Somehow the drivers side steering stop bolt has gotten bent on the RRC. Where do I find a new coarse thread, #12, 2" , grade 8 bolt? Lowes and HD only have fine thread bolts. I tried a 1/2" for grins and ofcoarse that didn't fit.

I am going to ponder in my sleep about how you managed to bend that with the kind of force you put on it while turning... I didn't realize they were grade 8, if you have to, glue a piece of wood up in there to prevent rubbing:p

For the record its the wife's truck so I don't know how it happened either! I think I'll pass on the McGyver bubble gum and block of wood fix though:smilelol:

Where did you find your replacement?

They are metric bolts and I think around 12mm diameter x 1.75 thread pitch, bring the old one in and double check. Lowes sometimes has metric bolts, but you may have to visit a good fastener or hardware store to find them in the right lenght or you can cut some down to size.

I bent mine on the right side. I have no idea how it bent. Yes they are metric and you should be able to match one up at a good auto parts store or even the dealer.

You said dealer:ack: Tacoma Screw had a grade 8 replacement. Original was infact grade 5. Hopefully the #8 won't bend as readily.

actually i've been too lazy to deal with it, so I just have to be careful not to turn too sharply to the right...

I'll go grab one from Tacoma screw when I get around to it.. thanks for the tip

Yeah, I know I just like to have things the way they are intended.
