my parents adopted a unique food stratagy for camping. My mom would pre-cook meals at home, put them in seal-a-meal bags, and store them in the freezer.

I do this a lot with the ARB freezer fridge. I'll smoke ribs, chicken and salmon. Will last for weeks.

French MRE's are really good. You can find them online. I try to stay away from the US ones, due to the fact i have to eat them all the time..... You guys are some serious chefs. A one day trip to me means McDonalds.

Me too, me too!

As far as, lunch for a one day trail trip = anything that is simple!

I love pb&j and ham sandwiches. Sometimes, I'll premake a pasta salad the night before and take it along. And I can't forget the beef jerkey and roasted peanuts.

Nice pics. I think http://www.expeditionexchange.com/baja06/baja06002 222.jpg is a scary picture. I'd be afraid to even turn on my cell phone in Mexico. Every experience I've had with Mexican telephone services has been frightening.

The commerce between Tijuana and San Diego is so important that reliable and safe cellular use is more of a necessity than a luxury. It doesn't really work once you get farther south, but along the border it's very trust-worthy. Just too much money at stake for it not to be.

Now, weren't you talking about how badass you were for running trails with no cell phone coverage the other week?

Looks like a good road trip, though. Kinda looks like the place I get my moonshine from, only without the trees and fighting roosters.

don't think i missed your "road trip" jab either.

you have no fucking idea what it's like or how to sterotype it. your little world is so fractional that you'll never see beyond it.

you see i have offroaded muddy rocky forests in the East. and i probably will again. but i know there is now way in hell your degenerate ass will ever get farther than a stones throw from moonshine and corpses.

again, go trade your junk in on a Rubicon.
i don't know what sort of cosmic glitch put you in a rover.

LOL, you really have no clue, Jack. Don't let this Internet stuff fool you.

Rubicon? Yeah, I really dig that new Unlimited.....what's not to like? 4:1 transfer case, lockers f/r, HD axles, solid front/rear axles, every possible accessory in the world is available in one form or another......... Yeah, Rubicons suck.

they don't suck.

i never said they did.

i just said they were perfect for you.

the rover has waaaaaaay too many draw backs for the limited type of offroading that you want to do.

why handicap yourself.

get a truck that out of the box will beat out the disco on your trails everytime.
then sell your disco and leave the land rover world.

it's a win / win.

But if I left the Land Rover world I would have no place to have coffee and tea. I would miss out on all the gourmet food trail side. And, most of all, I would miss out on all the fashionable gear that one clearly needs to go off-roading..... I'm not willing to give that up.

Yawn......Jack, I bet you got a 5-year subscription to Land Rover Lifestyle.

beef stew and tuna noodle baby.

anything but ham slice.
Oh yeah, beef stew's always a winner! Haven't had the tuna-noodle ones in a while. They make all kinds of different ones now. They have a new egg omelet meal now but it's horrid, a chicken fajita meal, and spicy pasta, amongst others.
One thing about MRE's though. We don't let anyone eat the Charms over here. It's bad luck for some reason. Not sure where it came from but I oblige. They suck anyway!
