I'd always go with Turner, they are a family business, answer queries over the weekend if you email them and have a darn good reputation in the industry. When I had my gasket problem, I emailed them on a Saturday evening at 17.02, expecting to have to wait until Monday, but within half an hour I had a response from Frida Turner answering all my questions very promptly. It may have been a fluke, but I have heard of similar things from others.

The other company is a processor for engines that need to be put through the factory, I'd never heard of them until you posted that link, but that doesn't say that they are not any good.

You can buy the liners only from Turner if you want to get something done over in the USA.

I believe you can still pick up short blocks from RPI engineering as well, and I believe they have top hat liners installed. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

What sort of cost are we talking about to get a new Turner short block to the US?

Not sure on short block price from Turner. I have an email out to them now.

Another place I found was:
http://www.eagleeliteauto.com/
4k for Long block (with heads)
2.5k for short block

I think RPi is in UK but their email form is broken. I'll have to wait until Monday to call.

from Turner:

1 4.6l. V8 Petrol Short Engine ? Remanufactured
New pistons, bearings, camshaft/timing equipment
remanufactured crankshaft/conrods
block casting with ductile iron flanged liners fitted ? 2645.00
1 to fit H180 sports torque camshaft to the above add ? 150.00

You may also require the following:
gasket/seal kit ?80.00
head bolt set ?25.00
hydraulic lifter set ?76.00
shim kit to set lifter pre load ?20.00

1 DHL delivery door to door ? customs cleared ? 295.00
(local tax/duty may apply)
1 insurance

So without the H180 sports torque camshaft that's, $5,107 USD shipped for a short block

I know there are mixed emotions about RoverCannibal from OK but I just bought my new long block with top hat liners and a performance cam from them

Most negative things I have heard about there engines had to do with there "salvaged" engines and not there fully rebuilt performance engine. Maybe one thing they can work on is answering there phones a little better but they did return "most" of my calls.

The engine has been in the truck for about 2 weeks now and I'm loving it!

COSCAST if they are still available. Superior quality (obvious just by looking) compared to the prevoous. and supposedly fixed the tooling. PT might know more but that is what we were told.

I was told they went belly up.
really? wow. too bad.

not like there is that big of a market though. I bet the experimental aircraft market bought more than the actual rover market...

in the states you have D&D fabrications, they do top lining and cam bearing only for about $2200.00 door to door you do the assembly, when it comes down to it, you would have spent about another 1500 in parts. if you do the labor you just saved some 40hrs at your local shop labor rate, 10 hrs to remove/install engine about another 30 hrs for strip and assembly.

Stumbled upon a shop which specializes in Rover V8s here in Southern CA that offer bored T-hat liners and new cam bearings for around $1100-$1200. Engine Supply in Santa Ana, 714-556-0310/ mcengine@verizone.net.

I called RPi they are out of new engines. MCT (Mitchell Cott) are also out of new engines. I think I'm going to tear down my engine to confirm what the issue is. Sounds like liner, but also sounds like the valve train noise as it occurs from cold. Does trying Seafoam or MMO make sense, before the tear down?
