Has anyone had any experience running BFG Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 tires? How do they hold up? Pros and cons? Any suggestions as to preferences on tires?

Currently driving a 97 Defender with 300Tdi, 5 speed, Transfer box 1.211 ratio, 4.11 gears in diff, 1" wheel spacers on hubs, 3" lift

I am running them on my 110 and would say they are the best 4x4 tires I have had (been driving rovers 25+ years). They have about 3k on them so far beat them up pretty well on rocks and no cuts or marks. Do well even when loaded up with red clay

I have a friend with them on a Rubicon and so far he loves them. They run great off-road and he says they are better than the old BFG MT on the road; which surprises me a bit when you look closely at the tread of the new KM2.

He's only had them for a little over a month.

Are these available yet? Are they offered in 255/85?

They are not available in anything for a 16 inch wheel smaller than a 35. This fall they are supposed to come out with some more standard sizes.

Doug C is dead on, these are some of the most impressive tires I have run to date. Good on the road, super tough and cut resistant, and they are sticky and flexible as hell!

I'll be looking hard at those as my next set of tires - especially when the 235/85R16 size becomes available.

I dont think this will be an option. I asked BFG they said the didnt have plans for the KM2 in the 255/85.

The KM2 is planned to carry the same sizes as the previous mud terrain, although it may take a while for them to release the more odd sizes. At least that is the information I was given...

A bunch of 285/75/16's were released prematurely. I am running a set as well.

Phil, last I heard they were going to keep the KM line as well. I was also told they wouldn't make the KM2 in the skinny tire sizes (255, 235). Makes sense based on the tread pattern of the KM2.

Good to know. I havent really asked to much I wish I would have picked up a set of those 285's when they were availible. Im glad to know they will keep the KM around for a while yet. I think its an excellent tire.

I hope they make them in a 33x10.5R15 size:drool:

and I love my current KM's however when these wear out no doubt I'm going KM2 if they are made in that size.

i have done quite a bit of research on these tires. the KM2 will only resemble the Krawler in tread design. the compound it tougher for friendlier road use, however still very good offroad. as said before, sizing is limited until fall 08'

I have a buddy from Albuquerque, Dan who has these new KM2's on his hybrid D90. We were at Hole in the Rock in late April and he punctured a sidewall on the new KM2; so I am not impressed. I am not sure if BFG warranted them or not; I thought they would just to save face if nothing else. Tread design looks great but the sidewalls not so much...............

It is a RHD D90 he bought over in Asia somewhere and he stretched it to a 100" wheelbase. Performs very well..........
