Walter thinks he's soooooooooooooo cool with his fancy 7100's and Dutch Oven!

What springs do you have? 3" w/spacers?

So that's what I'm saying, what are gaining from a 4" spring with 10" shocks...it seems that you'd run the risk of bottoming out (fully extending the shock)

Dude, that's topping out, not bottoming out, get your suspension terminology right:p

I agree that a limit strap and a good, properly placed, bumpstop should be added to the set-up. It amazes me how many Rover people relly on stuff like ball joints, springseats, shocks, and bushings to minit travel, then wonder why it breaks. You don't need blinging air-bumps, just for $25 Daystar poly bumpstops and some limitstraps and you add a lot of reliability to the suspension, and also don't get that tooth rattling thud if you do bottom out hard.

I am the Lizard King.
On the d2 you use 3" springs in the front and d1 lower spring perches with a wedge in the rear.
The spring seat are different on the d2 so it takes a shorter spring in the front to get higher. In other words a 1" over spring gets 2" on a d2, 2" gets 3" and the three inch gets 4".

Got no tooth rattling thumps yesterday that I got with the Pro Comps with adapters. As I said the springs will fully compress before the shock bottoms out. As far as topping out I don't think it will be an issue but we'll see then you guys can say, "I told you so!".

The rod end that replaces the heim joint is B4-LG1-Z004A00 and is also marked with 451667, this all according to Steve. I should have mine next week maybe.

Where'd ya find this part? Nothing shows up on shockwarehouse and eshocks doesn't have a search engine... google shows up nothing on those part numbers either.

Thanks

On a DII with Air-suspensions at the rear...no 2" lift as for now..(maybe near future).
A Bilstein 7100 10" travel Reservoir shock - short body (8 inch) or 10" travel "stock" reservoir shock to be fitted?
Bilstein "OEM" 6100 series (BE5-6047-H0) is:
Extended length 25.82"
Collapsed length 15.79"
The 7100 10" travel Reservoir shock - short body
Extended length is 24.31"
Collapsed length 14.29"
The 7100 10" travel Reservoir shock -
Extended length is 25.77"
Collapsed length 16.10"
I don't know LR stock shocks Ext & Col length, while installing 7100 10" travel Reservoir shock (not Short body reservoir) I can be ending with bottoming out (full shock compressed) and damage it?

I like my Rancho's. I would like to go to Rovertym 3" springs though.

i went to my local brake shop thats got a press and he wasnt able to put these in said the rubber bulged like fat over a belt buckle...any advice besides try another shop? I noted his method was not using the 'ring' in the photo above, is it that much easier to use the lower mounts from rte?

the polys on the rears were no problem

They don't press into the heim mounts. There is a different mount that you need to get for the forks.

Just to add, with the 3" springs (4" lift on D2), I get a slight dislocation in the fronts with the 10" regular shocks. Not enough to dislodge the spring but it's enough to make a nice "pop" on full extension.
The fronts will also top out on full compression on the drivers side. I have since installed a pair of the EVS shock bump stops in the front and have a pair on order for the rear.
For those of us running this set up keep an eye on the o-rings on the shaft that Bilstein supplies as a bump stop to see where you top out at.
