I want to bleed the brakes (change fluid) on my ?99 D2. The shop manual outlines a typical procedure- hook up bleeder hose on caliper, insert in clean clear jar of fluid, loosen nipple and have assistant pump the peddle etc? Is there anything else to do? I?ve read that the ignition key should be on (something to do with the ABS), but this isn?t mentioned in the manual? Is the procedure as typical as it sounds or is there something else I should be concerned with?

Also- the manual says to start with the front passenger side then the driver?s front then to the rears. I?ve also read you should start with furthest wheel which would be a rear?? Any suggestions about this?

I thought this required Testbook to be used. When I did my 60k service, I let the dealer handle this one just to make sure it was done properly, I think I paid like $150 for it.

The manual outlines a very simple procedure and does not mention Testbook. I do know you can use Testbook to bleed the system for you using the ABS, but also can do it the old fashioned way. I'm more interested in whether or not you have to turn the key on??

BTW josonva99-- I have a '99 D2 and a '90 Mastercraft PS190. Seems I'm a year behind you all around! We should have our own discussion about towing etc....

I followed the manual proceedure that is outlined on the RAVE CD, and it worked fine. Basically what you stated above. Key off, no Testbook.
