Newbie, here. Need some input. My blower motor started making an awful screeeeching sound from time to time. The heat has to be running for 5-10 minutes and it lets loose. Can something get caught in it? or is the motor going?? Any input would be great

Jay,
What year do you have?I have 96 disco and mine did a similar thing, i removery the fan housing (3 screws) and saw some crap in the fan cage itself. It turned out to be a mouse nest...dont know what happened to the mouse but the nest was removed and that fixed the problem, take your fan out, turn the heat on and watch the fan run and listen.the fan cage shoule be clean and empty

Morpheus,

Thanks for the reply. I have a DII (2001). Wife tells me this morning it made this noise last winter; however, I never have heard it in the winter until now. It has never made this sound in the summer. I drive all the time with the A/C crankn. Now I'm even more confused. I'll take it apart and see what's going on. I'll let you know if I'm carrying an extra passenger.

My '02 DII does the same thing. It gets worse the higher the speed of the fan. Also seems to get worse the higher the RPMs are. Seems to be coming from the passenger footwell.

Any ideas?
