We have a couple threads on this, but they're 1+ years old, and I know this field changes a lot.

Long story short, I got a new Blackberry and my wired headset (which I got a week before) doesn't work with it. For some reason, they put a headphone-type plug in the BBerry (probably for "media phone" use), so all the traditional wired headsets don't work. So, I'm now forced to join the great masses of the Bluetooth posse.

Yippee.

So, I'm thinking this is simple. You go pick one up, they all work the same. Except apparently it's not that easy. Some seem to totally suck, and some cost more than my discounted phone did. And you have to CHARGE the damn thing?

So...here's what I'm looking for. Does it exist?

-Clear, loud sound (speaker and mic). I'd use it mostly in the RRC, so it's a relatively loud environment. I need to be able to hear and be heard over the tyres, engine, wind, etc. I also have trouble hearing from headsets to begin with. I'm not recording an album from the driver's seat, but I want some clarity. Don't know if I need as much as the top-of-the-line noise cancelling ones give, though.
-Ability to charge with a standard mini-USB plug. I have about 3,000 cords for this this type. Everything from my cameras to my GPS to the Blackberry use it. I don't want to have to buy another charger. I already have two 12V chargers for this type floating around the car and a couple in my bag, and it's very convenient.
-Not too stupid looking, if possible. This is going on my inboard ear, anyway, and coming off when it's not needed, but still, a bit of form factor is nice.
-Good battery life. Considering I didn't know they even needed to be charged until a few days ago, I really don't want to have to deal with this too much, and certainly not in the middle of a call.
-Low price. Maybe $50-60 max? If that exists with the other criteria. The lower the better.

I can't believe I have to succumb like this, but I guess it'll be nice to at least not have to deal with another cord.

My dad after much researching and experience has found Plantronics or what ever that company is to be the best. Not sure how much they cost. He says he has had some issues getting his BlackBerry and headset to sync. I'm not sure how it charges, but its supposed to have the best clarity compared to other brands.

He has the new Verizon World Edition BB now, so I don't know how well it works now.

x2 on the Jawbone. Works pretty well for me. I don't find it as loud as some of the others, but it'd definately workable. Voices in both directions are slightly tinny.

One clarification on the charger though.. It charges via USB, but with it's own (stupid) cable... it's NOT mini-usb at the headset end. The only one that I've had with a mini-usb was a Jabra. It worked well enough, until I backed over it.

The Jawbone's noise canceling isn't 100% great... picture it like the less expensive noise canceling audio headsets (Sony, Panasonic... not Bose)... It kills wind and constant noises, but audibles like keyboards and other voices (in an airport) still go through. As such, it's probably ok for your RRC.

X3 For the jawbone, recommended by the IT techno geek at work, charger a pain, and they do not work when you leave them in the pocket of your jeans after working on the LR and run them through the washer!

you know, what really pisses me off.

People who walk around with the damn headsets even though they arent talking on a call, or expecting a call.

THEY ARE NOT F*&KING JEWLERY PEOPLE.

I was eating in a restraunt a couple of days ago and a man came in with his family to eat, all the while with the damn headset in his ear.

Yep, go for the Jawbone. I used to be in the cell phone business and it was by far our best seller, and we almost never saw them come back.
