ATI 7psi bolas mad and my own radiator mod. 7,000 on car now. Third one I have built. Porsche turbo and bimmer can eat my dust as well as lambo.....etc. I still have a love for bimmers. My first car was a 320i.
Bang for buck, no one can touch the fun of this car except my (several of us) motorcycle. It would be easy to forge and step up the boost, but the tires break loose at will up to 100mph as it is.

I'll give you that the later Vette's have come along way the handling and power for the money hard to beat as well.

my rental car is a toyota carolla for this week, its fast compared to my rig.

my dad used to drive a 91 318is, great gas mileage and you can still have some fun with it.

but both these cars are nowhere near fast

LOL, I had a Ford Focus automatic  a week ago and I caught myself enjoying it in comparison to the rover. You know I have to be hard up what thats happening! :)

I'm not shooting for "fast" more of a really good handling fun driving experience. Also have to keep it real with fuel mileage and a little cargo area.

We have a 330xi E46, no complaints! I love the power it has without downshifting and how I can almost make my stomach turn when getting off the highway ramps. Its got 97K miles and when you look at the engine it honestly looks new.
I have also stop looking at the BMW forums, its tough to find anything that values a stock BMW. Lots of the topics are about picking up girls...at least its not about picking up guys.
Good luck

Yeah I specifically have my eye on the xi's the 330xi would be very nice. I had a chrysler 300 in Chicago last month when they got that big snow storm, just a damn solid reminder a rear wheel drive car has no place up here.

Also read some reviews on the WRX and the available 5 door with some cargo room seems to make some sense in a trade off between a sedan and a SUV like storage area. Guess I have some test drives coming up to make a call.
