Hi guys,

Been a while. Anyway my Dad changed my brakes for me but he is saying he that he has to cycle the brake peddle once before the brakes actually become effective. I tend to think its a bleeding issue but he says he suspects the master cyl. What do you all think? I haven't seen the car in about 9 months but I am looking for a place to start when I get home in a couple weeks.

Thanks,

JMK

Well if all he did was to replace the pads, yes, he prob had to pump them a few times, and the pedal went way low, because the first two storkes are required to get the pistons out of the calipers and get everything seated against the rotors. if it stops, and and the pedal doesn't go to far down, then things are prob fine.

Be careful in Kasan, come home soon. Chuck

Thanks for the reply. I guess I left out some important info... He changed front brake calipers. Bleed brakes and all that. He says that after the brakes were bled the peddle still goes the the floor but once he reapplies brake pressure they work fine.

It may be the master cylinder or a vacuum leak but if it was fine before the brake job there is still some air in the brake lines or in the calipers.
