I had a thread about brakes two weeks ago, but before i changed stuff out i figured i'd ask first. Anti-Lock light has been on for a while to begin with. I had my rear rotors turned, which i understand you are not supposed to do on a disco I. I am not sure if it was less than the minimum width. Brakes were fine when i did it, but now that they have some wear to them when i drive down the road and pass a rock wall, bridge, or bank i can hear what sounds like the pads laying on the rotors when i haven't even touched the brakes. Something is definately making a metal sound. When i hit the brakes when riding the majority of the time it goes away and comes back when i hit a bump, but usually makes a constant scraping sound. Also curious if the ABS pump is loud enough to hear when i turn the key on because i do not hear anything. If it is not the rear brakes, the only other thing i have noticed is that the front right wheel seems to obtain a lot more brake dust than any other wheel on my car by far. Any help would be great. Email to rover7592@yahoo.com if possible.

[The abs modulator is different on the d1 than on the rrc and is quite quiet--it is also quite different as far as function is concerned....As far as the dust goes you may have a sticky caliper...

a stuck caliper could also explain the noise...it may be stuck in a position where the pad has just enough contact to rub...
have you noticed any abnormal wear???

As far as the abs system is concerned...You can do without it all together. I run without it on both of my Discos.

Will,
how do you go without the abs? Pull the fuse? Whats the method of fixing a sticky caliper? a rebuild or a replacement? Thanks for the help.
