i own a 1991 range rover county and my brake peddle got stiff and the abs pump stopped working. What would cause the abs pump to stop working?

Your truck is 22 years old. ABS pumps get worn and tired and give up. This part failed on my RRC, but it started wheezing and groaning before it did, so the warning signs were clear. Call Will Tillery, Marty Powell, Paul Grant, or one of the other used Rover parts vendors that frequent this site (start by looking in the Parts Wanted or Parts for Sale sections, you'll find them there). One of those guys can sell you working replacement parts at a reasonable price. You also might consider investing $40 in a Motive pressure brake bleeder, which will make the job much easier. There's a ton of useful info on Discoweb, so use the search function, ask questions, and you can get your Rangie's brakes back in shape without much difficulty. Good luck.

Could be a sensor that just needs to be pushed back in, could be accumulator ball has lost it's charge, could be the pump motor has failed, there are lots of possibilities, is the problem intermittant? We cant offer much specific help without more specific information.

when i hit where the pressure switch is it started to work then all of a sudden hitting it wasnt working. and now the brakes are very stiff where you have to really put pressure on the peddle to stop it

Ok, I have been posting to ur questions and now read the words Jiffy Lube. You need to get a Workshop Manual and work on your Rover. Or at least get an understanding of the mechanicals / electrical side of it. The beasts are pretty maintenance heavy if you want some degree of reliability with it.

poor baby. dont be jealous that i have a classic

The purpose for pin/slide springs is to keep the pads off the rotors unless braking, preventing premature wear and squeaking.

Pretty basic stuff, not even rover specific. To Honda's point, you may want to me more selective with questions if your goal is obtaining advice.
