Bridge closure at Shoe Creek 11/05/08

Was at Shoe Creek yesterday and saw a sign that they were rebuilding the bridge at the bottom starting 11/05/08. No information on how long it would take? Do not know if they are going to do a bypass in the creek?

Who was rebuilding the bridge, would that be the county or the state? I had not heard that, but I have not been there since early this summer.

Chuck, It looked like a state sign. It appears that the steel is present for the construction. In other areas of the county they build a bypass in the creek to get around the construction. I do not know if they are going to do this, or not, at this bridge. I did not see any evidence that this was going to happen. I don't know how the 3-4 people who live in houses down the street are going to get to their homes during the construction?

Are you talking about the bridge on Route 666?

This is the last bridge you cross before getting onto the trail. Unless they make a water crossing I do not know of a way to get to the bottom of the trail with out coming in from the top. It might not take long to re-build the bridge but who knows? I can't imagine they would not have a way for the residents to get to their homes?
