yes i broke a brand new master pull xd line http://www.masterpull.com/cpage.cfm?cpid=478 :( The line is brand new and it broke on the second time i used it. No marks on the rope whatsoever and i was pulling while my truck was doen on a river crossing stuck on a rock. there was a straight line to the other truck and it was not rubbing on anything. I have a D1 and i was really loaded but still i have a ramsey 12000 and this line is rated at 26,500 so WTF any ideas that i dont see ! Also it just broke clean like it ripped or something and no i dont have any pics yet.

That sucks big time!!! I have pulled many many times with mine and never an issue. Give them a call ASAP. There was obviously a defect somewhere.

Couple of questions:
single line pull?
how many wraps left on the drum?

Single line pull and at least two rows left on the line.

Just talked to Master pull and they say that they do not warranty their cables.
They said to send it in and they might be able to fix it. I say why would i want a cable that broke on a straight line and is probably defective.

After talking to them 5 minutes they agreed that it is not normal for that cable to break and want the video of the actual break. But they never said they would replace it yet .

My question to you guys. Taking in the fact that it has no damage whatsover to start with and pulling in a straight line wouldnt the winch stop before the cable breaks.
12,000 winch 26,500 cable i dont get it has to be defective.

Well recovery 101 is double the pull, but that's not the issue here. Yes to your question, the winch should stall before the line breaks. To explain, with 2 wraps left you probably had 50' of rope out, right? If that's the case then your only pulling at half the rated strength of the winch so the line should be able to handle it with no issues.
Sound like it had a defect...

By running your line through a snatch block and back to your truck, (i.e. a double line pull) you basically double your line pull. Or so I've been told. Dad taught me to always double the line unless you have to single line.

We'll, first do send the line to masterpull and if they give you flack, gently remind them that most of the customers willing to pay 500 bones for a winch line expect above and beyound service levels and replace the cocksucking thing as it's obviously a reject they sent to the canuck to piss him off.

On another note, this a good reminder to test out the lines before first real use. With the steel lines we get in the habbit of streching them with several hard pulls first. Now this is not really the same deal with the synthetic, but a few hard pulls could help to find a few defects on a brand new line before it's used in a real situation.

Over eight years now... and I have never had an issue using 3/8" MP winch and extension lines with my Superwinch X9.

Those that run synthetic rope pay a premium for one feature that you haven't commented on yet. Did your MP line perform as anticipated and "gently" drop? Did you feel an abrupt unloading of kinetic energy when the line severed?

Tks but i offroad every weekend and i know how to double pull its just that in Mongos comment it was like he was saying to double pull almost all the time ? But if you do that you loose half the cable in lenght and i dont think you need to double most of the time thats all. But i agree that some time du to laziness we try and winch just to see if its going to moove and then go to double line.
