When he is not putting make up on old people Dan is practicing his prognostication skills. Seeing as I am not old (yet) or dead or in need of make up, his fascination with my truck is circumspect at best. Did my name come up in your therapy again?

Damn, being a male middle school teacher must be embarrassing. Kind of like being a male nurse but less pay.

I've got a new name for you, Chuckles. Cheapfuck Charles.

I remember this pic of Cheapfuck Charles. I think it was taken at MAR

I bet Cheapfuck Charles was close by when this pics was taken at MAR, too.

The fact that you keep pics like that on your computer says WAY more about you than anything I could say. You just keep coming back, why is that? Do you feel a need to show me these images? Just keep it up with the counseling, we are praying for your recovery.:patriot:

I'll post the images I have. I don't hide them. Hiding them would mean I'm ashamed. Instead, I think they're funny. It's not that I want to fuck the tailpipe of your truck, or dress up in a diaper and walk around MAR, but the fact someone did it cracks me up. You crack me up Cheapfuck Chuckles, and these pics remind me of you.

I wonder what kind of images a male middle school teacher with a limp swagger and feminine voice hides?

Only an idiot would repair a 10-spilne carrier that most parts places would give you for free just to get rid of it. It's called junk. There is a reason you were working on it. It's because it sucks.

No one cares about how you played dentist and took a Dremel (spelled correctly, btw) tool to fix a shitty product just so it can fail again. That's the problem with Dweb today - too many cheapfucks who think they're clever when in reality they just end up looking like a cheapfuck.

Then, to top it off, you're going to replace your broken stock 10 spline axles with more stock 10 spline axles. You're a fucking genius! You know why they broke in the first place? Because they're cheap. Anyone with half a brain would understand this by now, and you of all people, who had countless stock diff and axles failures over the years, should know this. But you're too fucking stupid to learn. Instead, you're that guy who breaks on every outing and stalls the field while you work on your shit. Then you wonder why no one goes wheeling with you unless it's at a ROAV event. Get a clue.

Read your own fucking sig line, dumbass.

Please post this on the new Evoque ( whatever they call it) site , let them get a taste of a real Land Rover site feels like..
They'd grow up in a hurry or better yet sale the damn thing.. DO IT!

So did you fix it? You back on the road or still in many pieces?

got all the bits out of the housing and the diff back together, just have been too busy with Xmas and the kids to put it back together. Maybe squeeze in some time this weekend. My one year old refuses to hand me tools under the truck.

Well necessity for garage space dictated I finish this up, it all went together just fine. Drove it around yesterday with no issues. Also go the Series III hinges in the mail so I am painting them now to swap those and the mirrors. The series mirrors just flop around.

We have two Series III's in the family, along with my Disco 2.

The SWB Series has had more 'excitement' in its life than I care to think about, been converted to first a 12J 2.5n/a diesel and then a 19J turbo diesel, had an overdrive and then that was out and two RR Classis diffs fitted.

Been down to the South of France twice, towed a Sankey wide-track loaded with engines for the Nuenen engine show, but never broken a half shaft.

I'd suggest that there may be a flaw set up in the material that just is a weak spot that eventually goes.

Converting to 24-spline is great, but it just transfers the failure point to somewhere else in the drive train.

The LWB Series is in the middle of a major rebuild, the chassis has been almost rebuilt with new metal, but as it has the much stronger Salisbury rear axle, it is unlikely that it will have an issue with half shafts.

The SWB is about to be converted back to a 2.25 petrol, then fitted with an LPG gas kit.

Because LR stuff is so cheap here in the UK, a lot of things that are dammed expensive for you guys are just skip fodder (junk/trash) over here.

Let me know through an email if you guys ever get stuck for anything, we have lots of used spares in storage.

This truck is used just for random errands and street driving, very light wheeling if anything. RenChing had shafts for cheap, no real $$$ tied up in the repair if you ask around for parts.

Complete axles on offer for £10-£25 on ebay, but rarely sell as the parts are not needed.

I did see a comment recently that 4-pin diffs actually are weaker than 2-pin, but can't comment through personal experience.

Salisburys are pretty bullet-proof, but to find them for an 88" is an almost impossible search.

The other option is to convert to full-time 4WD and make a Stage One out of it, but really only works for the 109" as the propshaft is too short at the back.
