Hey all. Need help in Indianapolis. My front driveshaft failed (more specifically, looks like the u-joint) on the highway and tore up my exhaust and put a pretty good bash in my transmission pan. Ended up at Euro Motor works, but want to make sure I get a line on anyone local that knows where to get parts or may be able to do the work if Euro wants an arm and a leg. Any help is appreciated.

You beat me to PT's web link. I was a thinking Gary might be in INDY.
Gary used to be in INDY.

After you get situated. How many miles on the drive shaft? any indicators that it was going south before it decided to cut loose?

call affordable towing in fort wayne and take a ride to PT!!! or just pull the shaft, lock your center diff and drive it (assuming the pan isnt leaking)

Good point on locking the diff. My thinking cap isn't on regarding the full time system. So, it makes sense that when I put it in gear to try and move it while the CDL is unlocked, it doesn't send any power to the rear? I was worried something else in the center diff/transfer case had broken.

Correct.
Its an open diff so it splits the torque evenly. since no torque can be applied to the front, it can't send any to the back (unless the diff is locked)

I broke my front d-shaft (off road) a while back and had to do same procedure.A challenging drive out of the trail in 2wd but ran great on highway(long drive home) and better gas milage.Drove it around like that for a few weeks.Good luck.

Transmission case is cracked. PT is sending a rescue team down tomorrow to get it. As for me, I'm off for six weeks of sunshine and death by PowerPoint in San Antonio.
