SCSL...If you don't agree with the add...don't post to it.

If you disagree with the price then make an offier that you think is fair...that is why the truck is listed O.B.O.

Got's ta love that trailer hitch !

Yeah...Yeah...the Previous Owner did that and we just never took it off. The safari guard rear bumper does not have an integrated hitch. It surprisingly does not hurt the departure angle...but could be easily removed. Afterall it is not a tow rig.

That was a nice bace for a build up on a Disco. But, then he distroyed the rear bumper, lol...

Nice paint, too.

I'll give you $4,000.00. And yes, I'm being serious. If you think you're going to get anywhere near 12k, I can't help but laugh in your face.

I'd like to know what asshole got welder happy with that rear bumper.

Like I said,,, I've never gotten involved in these types of threads, though I've read thru quite a few. The reality, however, is that you've come to a board of Discovery enthusiasts asking for over 100% of your truck's value... that's just the fact, and so it's bound to provoke some responses. My post was hardly uncivil in tone, just an observation. I (sincerely) wish you luck with selling your truck. Looks like a good clean rig.

D Chapman, there is some oxidation on the roof in front, but other than that the paint is fine...it is nothing that a little work with a buffer would not take out.

The rear bumper is in no way destroyed by the fact that the PO weled onto it...it is very stout and anyone with a grinder could remove the hitch with no damage to the bumper.

$4K...that my friend is laughable. Not only is the vehicle itself worth at least 3/4 of that you could not purchase Safari Guard bumpers and ARB lockers for that price.

SCSL...no worries. I understand and do not take offence.

I posted this on this board hoping that a group of Discovery Enthusiasts would appreciate the rig as opposed to just make cracks about oil leaks and electrical problems like I would get on Pirate.

While I will admit that I do not have my fingers on the pulse of the Disco market, I am very in touch with the 4x4 market in general and know how much it would cost to build this rig.

I also know that you never get out what you put into them.

That being said...I do not NEED to sell this rig and am a patient person.

If someone is willing to make a fair offer...I am willing to consider it.

It doesn't really matter how much it cost to set up the rig ... it's how much value is retained after depreciation, wear and tear ...

People mod their vehicles because they want to ... but anyone who hopes to get back what they put into it is dreaming ...

SDD2...agreed...I belive that I mentioned that in my post above when I said "you never get out what you put into it" If I was trying to get brand new retail value for the truck and all the excessories I would be asking for a hell of a lot more.

rdoane,

Thanks for looking up the BB vaule...that is acutally higher than what I would expect.

However I disagree that anyone would sell all of the accessroies on this truck for $620.

WOW, so if I add some lockers and ugly bumpers my truck could be worth $12,000?! Since mine is cleaner, has about the same miles, same tires, 2" lift, and is only worth $4-5000 tops. Of course, it IS two years older and doesn't have a CB radio. That must be it.

Needs to be painted and needs new bumpers.

Good luck being patient and selling it.

Sorry dude, but no type of wax, rubbing compound, clay bar, etc.. is going to fit that roof. The only way to fix that truck is to repaint the entire thing; just repainting the discolored area will not work. The clear coat on that truck is done. I can even see that from the half ass pic's posted. So, I can imagine in person or up close, the clear coat is even worse that what I can imagine.

Your truck base is worth $4,000.00 with good paint and interior. Sure, it has a few mods on it that are desirable. But, 12k is ridicules, lol....

You would be better off to part the truck out and call the scrap man for the rest.

400.00 Front Bumper
400.00 Rear bumper after all that shit is removed
150.00 for the ghetto sliders
500.00ea for the diffs
350.00 for the motor
300.00 transmission
300.00 t-case with linkage
100.00 front axles/CV's
100.00 rear axles
Then you may be able to sell off a few other odd's and ends before calling the junk man.

My offer of 4,000.00 was generous. The truck has no winch, no HD axles, and still has stock gearing. These are mods that would add a little value to your truck, but still would never be in the 12k range.

I too have a 1997 D1. Actually, I have two of them. One of my trucks has everything you have listed, plus HD axles, a winch, HD reverse cut gears, built 4.6 motor, and a set of wheels and tires that cost over $3,000.00. Still, there is no way in hell I would ever get 12k for my truck, lol...

Good luck, hahaha

dude ... if you believed what you are trying to tell me, you wouldn't be asking for $12k ... if the stock value is near $4k you're asking someone to pay you $7-8k for all the bling (and "oxidation") on it ... it's not going to happen ...

And you're implying that you're doing us a favor by not asking for a hell of a lot more ... I'll let someone else deal with that one ...
