Thanks for the Feedback...

Maybe I should just take it back to stock sell the truck and part the accessories.

Everyone here seems too fixated on 12K and my post count.

While I may be a newb to this board...I am not a newb.

I appologize for the pics...it is not my truck...I am not trying to sell it...and I did not take the pics.

I am trying to do a favor.

Maybe I will suggest to my father that he clean the truck and remove the hitch since everyone seems fixated on the paint and silly hitch that the PO put on.

Oh...and I almost forgot go spend $600 on a winch so that it will up the resale value by $1500.

This truck is being sold OBO...reasonable offers will be considered.

Most importantly....no flaming on these threads.

If you are seriously interested in this truck please send email to:

You fucking moron, neither of those trucks sold.

Your version of "researching" with all your vast experience is to try to search out the answer you want to tailor to your needs, but even when that fails you, you merely post up your findings even though they are contrary to your point.
Man, get a clue.

Your dad's truck isn't worth $12K.
It isn't worth $10K.
It isn't worth $8K.

It's worth $6500 if you find just the right buyer.
Othewise it's worth $5900.

This is how dweb works.
It's the most perfect economic model I've ever seen. Everything is driven to a perfectly balanced market price. When it reaches the selling point it's gone in seconds. 5% high and it will never move.

Shut up.
Sit down.
Listen.
Learn.

Sell the truck.

xumFJ40, JSQ is correct. Quite literally.
In economics, this dynamic is referred to as the wisdom of crowds.

DAMNIT Jack beat me to it! lol!

It's all very true though...I've seen some great trucks sit on this board (for sale) for months and months.

....and, they are D2's. Take a 1999 D1 and compair it to a 1999 D2 and almost always the D2 fetches more money. Although I think 9.5k is too much for a 99D2, KBB seems to think otherwise. Besides all that, compair the overall condition......

Here is an example of how this thread COULD have gone down.

Note how the fair price and reasonable seller is rewarded with accolades and I *believe* an offline sale.

Yes, it sold not long after that thread started. A very fair price, and I have personally seen the truck and it was everything the seller said it was, and everything the buyer wanted. Good all around.
No way this '97 will go for $12,000....that's just reality. I know it sounds a little harsh but these guys are telling you the truth. A Dweb enthusiast isn't going to pay $12k for that Disco, and a non-enthusiast doesn't want a truck with all that crap on it!
If that is too tough to hear, you'll be better off parting the accessories.

And don't come back on this board in 4 days and announce to the world "I got my asking price, so F*%! You all!" Because we won't believe that either.

To all that have replied...and the many that haven?t.

I want to make sure that we are clear.

I appreciate your constructive feedback on the truck...in no way have I intended to express the point that any of you were lying to me about the value of this truck.

My point in replying to some of your comments was not to try and prove you wrong as much as it was to demonstrate that there are plenty of other people who post items for sale at over 5% of their value and while they may not sell...they do not receive the "attention" that my add has.

In regards to JSQ's post...I think that it was unnecessary and that people like you reflect poorly on the disco community. I in no way offered any personal attacks nor did I miss-represent the truck in my add.

As far as those who feel the need to add non-constructive criticism, please keep it to your self. This is not my truck...I am not responsible for the trailer hitch, nor did I take the pictures of it.

If I were to post one of my vehicles for sale, I agree Iwould have included more detailed pictures and cleaned the truck up before photographing it...but alas...It is not my truck...and I am just trying to help a family member out.

This is a very capable truck that has a lot of accessories.

If you are interested, make an offer that you think is fair and it will either be accepted or it will not.

I have attached some wheelin pics for anyone who is interested.

No offense, but we had stock truck doing more hardcore stuff than that at Barnwell back in May. If your truck saw anything at all remotely "hardcore", those tiny stock axles in that truck would be in pieces.
