this is the winch bumper im building for my SIII, i have a warn 8274 that is going on it after i rebuild it. the brush bar was an early birthday present from galen:D any comments are welcome, i just thought id keep it simple

Looks good Ian! I like the simple lines of the top brush bar you're using with it- classic design. Uber jealous ;) Just make sure you have a bottle opener on the rear one- much more essential than a winch.

Looks like the brush bar folds down, that's a good idea. They get in the way sometimes. I can't count how many times I've smacked my fingers on mine trying to work in that area.

Now, if you make an identical one out of stainless, fit it on there with a chain that holds it horizontal when you want to, and make a hanging charcoal basket, you will be set.:D Add a cutting board that fits into the slats and you have a nice mobile kitchen.

Cheers,

Kennith

That's looking pretty good. Was that brush bar off of something else?

Btw That was me in the silver Classic on Midlothian in front of Ukrops yesterday.

i thought that was you, there were 2 LR3's behind you and they did not wave, the brush bar i beleave is for a series or defender.

i kinda like that fold down kitchen idea, i already have a colman camp stove i sould make some little tabs that would hold it in place or something:D

Looks good. I like the fold down idea, makes for a good kitchen are and easier to work on the front end if the need arises. With gas prices being what they are you could even take it off and save a few pennies, although the savings would probably be minuscule. Nice work.

I'm buying a bunch of steel today to make an arbor. I love metal work. Very satisfying.

I hate metal working, its one of my least favourite things to do. I question myself often as to why I have a Miller 210 and a plasma cutter, but whenever I need them I am always grateful that I don't have to bust out the grinder. I just can't stand metal shavings in my ears, nose, skin, hair, and eyes. To each his own I guess.

That's the ticket, then. Make those tabs and you can slap that Coleman up there when you are out in the field. That would just be way too cool to pass up.

If you want to use my welder you are more than welcome to, I am going to be swapping motors around so I'll be in the garage all weekend.

well made some progress with the 4th of july and all, had to change the winch tray and move it out 2in so the 8274 would clear the grill and the pitman arm, but it did not push the bumper out anymore. tommarow im going to start welding on the mounts that will hold it to the frame sides sence i cant reach the stock lower nuts. ill try and remember to take some pics of it on the truck:bigok:

Walter, that would imply that I dress my own hair. J/k I don't mind getting dirty, I just can't stand metal shavings, I don't mind grease.
