buttons losing function one by one

all buttons I mention work only if pressed and held. first was rear defrost, then dome light, then it was the recycle air, and now my ac. did not happen all at once but over a year maybe. the latest is the AC. Dome light comes on when doors are opened. 95 RRC soft dash. I'm chalking up the rear defrost and dome light switches as worn and are easily pulled out and replaced. the recycle and ac not so much. like I said- ALL work if pushed in and held in. I'm most worried about the AC- I don't want to keep "testing" the button 'cause it cuts the compressor on and off. with my luck I might eff that up. Yes, I've searched. None seem to be the same symptoms. Any help appreciated.

So are all the switches you are talking about associated with the HVAC control panel?

yes-recycle and ac. going to take the center dash apart and just go from there I guess. just hard to do with a daily driver- but hey, I've limped it around with much more taken apart.

when my ac was jacked up i was driving around with my entire splayed (sp?) open, wires everywhere.

If nothing else I'd source a new switch panel and swap it out. It's the shotgun approach to car repair. Just start replacing shit when all else fails.
