While there is nothing wrong with PBR if anyone sees you with it they will assume you are trying to grow an ironic mustache and have a single speed bike.

PBR is very popular amongst the Williamsburg, Brooklyn crowd. It was mighty tasty on tap with a couple of meatball sliders at the Meatball Factory.

I'm a lager guy and just not crazy about IPA's and Ale's.
And yes, there is a time and place for them all. some times I like Miller lite, sometimes Heineken, sometimes I'll try some off the wall stuff. But I am convinced that "SOME" people just like to order odd beers and act like there shit doesn't stink cause there drinking some random fancy IPA that cost $6 a bottle. Others people I'm sure just like to try all kinds of beers and enjoy the range, and kudos to them. But hell, in about an hour I'll be standing in front of my grill drinking a Bud Light Lime and enjoying it.

On a side note, I always like suggestions on good lager beers that I should try.

Yep, PBR is the hotness in the hipster crowd.

When it comes to light, easy drinking, hot weather beer, I usually turn to Corona, Pacifico or Sol. I can't drink mass quantities anymore and life's too short to drink Bud Light. But since I live on the Seattle area, that means there are only about 3 or 4 days a year when I want to drink a lager. IPAs were practically made for Seattle.

Land Shark is a good option to go with the ones you mentioned

Not a big Pale Ale or IPA fan myself, so i didnt mention any of those earlier, but some less hoppy ones are pretty decent (basing on my taste). Sipping on Rare Vos by Ommegang (Cooperstown, NY) brewery; great stuff. Had some Old Dominion Stout, Port City Porter and a new stout (truth?). Latter almost drank like Bourbon County, but only hit 9.7% vs. 15 and change.

BTW, totally off topic but Fortunate Youth got a new album out. Just saying...

Not being snobby, .

Yes you are, entire point of your post.

Sure I like a primo portor house at Ruth's Chris. Waste of money and a burger does me just fine.

I worked at a place with > 100 beers in 1985.

Fact is there are plenty of over priced shitty micro's out there.

Its all about what you like and your own taste, so really I don't care much about what you like.

<< edit>>

And all this snobby stuff and you don't like the hoppy IPA's. Give me a break. I might even steer clear of a crappy pale ale and take a domestic lager just for the heck of it. I might even take a Coke Zero.

My favorite micro though, unfortunately is not American. I'd put Unibroue on the top, but there are so many good double IPA these days, they are a dime a dozen.

How am I being snobby? I thought i explained my reasoning pretty well. I like the flavor/taste of the micro-brews and Belgians, etc. and prefer that to the Buttweisers of the world. Btw, Unibroue makes some great brews, especially The Trois Pistoles. You missed my point. I did not mean to imply that only American micro-brews are great, but rather that there is such a vast amount of great beer, mind you to be had for reasonable prices, that it is hard to justify drinking Buttweiser.

Also, in the years i have been on here, never have i tried to or came off snobby. And that's a fact, Jack... Snobbinnes stems from social ineptitude, and I am extremely comfortable with who and what I am, and therefore do not need to put anyone's choices down, whil praising someone else's in order to feel a sense of belonging.

And you are right; it is exactly about what someone likes and not what someone he/she tries to emulate like. Therefore, if you like hoppy beers, domestics, micro-brews, etc., it does not change the type of person you are in my eyes. I am simply voicing MY opinion on the topic, using MY favorite brews to support my logic.

P.S. 1985 called and they want you to time travel back to that era and avoid making dumb remarks on this here site.

So, I actually like what I call middle of the road beers.

Have more and better flavor than miller light, but not expensive or heavy on you guy like craft beers.

My fav middle ground beer is Shiner Bock.

but even Shiner Bock is getting expensive

Yup, I like Shiner Bock too. Tried their black lager a while back and that one was good too. I think given the increased popularity of some of these 'non-traditional' beers, it is somewhat understandable why the price may go up a bit, but it's not like they were low to start with.

stella tastes like shit and is always skunked because of the green bottle. It just looks nice and sounds fancy. Newcastle is dirt to people from the UK, but I enjoy it.

Ice cold XX lager in a bottle or even poured over ice in a frozen pint glass for me when it's yard work time. When the crowd comes to chill in my pool on Sundays I throw them all Bud Lights or Coors Lights like I'm feeding the pigeons but I can't stomach that crap.

So boasting about your taste in beer and listing the bears while blasting "buttweiser" and other "piss water" is not trying to be snobby. Get over yourself. My point is that I was enlightened about the variety of beers available before '85 and did not formulate the same type of opinions. I'll drink beer, but my taste varies as much as my mood. What will I absolutely not drink? Newcastle, Shiner, Rolling Rock, Red Stripe. Bud.

See, you completely missed the intent of my post. There is no boasting involved whatsoever. Just wondering what is behind some people's choices when it comes to beer, and how companies like Bud stay in business with an increased presence of great brews.

You, yourself, seem to exhibit quite an elitist and snobby if you will point of view, by adamantly stating that you will absolutely not drink Newcastle, Shiner, Rolling Rock, Red Stripe and Bud. Now, who is being snobby?
