Just wondering what was bad about the 05's. Ours has been a great truck. Over 10 years of ownership, total replacement parts and service is less than $8k which includes labor.

It was just the first year. Bearings in the front fail, diffs are before the update so they fail, then just the normal water ingress has had more time to cause trouble. I had good luck with my 05. Wife wrecked it in an ice covered intersection. Someone posted a picture of it here at the corner of 120 and chappel hill road in mchenry

She didn't like that. Glad it wasn't me that posted it.

Im having trouble posting the tsb.The #is LTB00305 and says it applies to 2010 lr4 and on. It talks about vibration or noise at 2400 t0 2700 rpm under med to hard accell. says not evedent on light load applications. Does this sound like it applies?

Mine is 07 lr3 v8 NAS

I don't think rpm matters much on mine but i'll take notes today. mine is however still evident on ANY load now, light, heavy, anything really that is not just coasting.

Front output bearing at the transfer case noisy? can you hear anything if you drive it on a rack? I put them in sand mode to get all the wheels to spin. We have seen rear wheel bearings get noisy and also make sure the top bushings on the rear control arms (upper) are tight.

Describe it to me again. maybe I missed something.

I'm going next Tuesday to Lamorna garage in Ballard/Seattle WA who have 20 years in rovers. I'll show him what you wrote!

Pro tip: bring a quart of organic 2% milk for Gord'n. Some people like beer, Gord'n enjoys milk.

And once your LR3 is sorted out, are you going to enter it in the NW Challenge? Time is running out to register. I'll be heading down from Seattle if you want to caravan.

Still haven't pulled the trigger on anything. I keep going back and forth on whether to go for an 08 LR3 or keep looking for a somewhat well maintained( no flaming) 03-04 Dll

Two completely different beasts. BIG problem your going to have with D2, especially in your neck of the woods is frame rust. Mine came from Boston area, and it's in pretty bad shape. I just moved back to CO, so I'm hoping the dry climate will keep it on life support for a couple more years. When it does go tits-up, I'll get a clean '04 and swap everything out.
Your in two completely different camps comparing a D2 to a '08 LR3. Should probably figure that one out first.
