Can Bilstein Shocks work with Air Suspension?

Has anyone done any decent offroading with both Bilstein Shocks and their air suspension? Are the shocks too long in the rear? Is the travel too long, causing the airbags to pull apart? Are these not the right shocks to be using with an air suspension? Please let me know your thoughts.

Here and here's a P38A with about 3" of lift and (IIRC) Fox shocks with air suspension.

Great picture of the P38A in Moab. How did he do the 3" lift?

IIRC, he had 1.5-2" spacers under the airbags, and relocated/lenghtened ride height sensors.

Yes, im pretty sure they were factory length. But I didn't think they were harsh at all. I thought it rode very nicely with the POS air suspension.
