disco has a minor leak in the front pinion and on the rear pinion seal as well. dont have time to fix it this week or weekend before our trip up to washington. my question is- will this be a problem on a road trip to the northwest? plan on taking both trucks (93 lwb and 95 disco) will be doing some trails as well as driving along the coast up to washington (we have paying customers on this trip)...some water crossings will be involved, but i plan on fixing them both when i get back as well as change out the fluid which is new already.

im pretty sure i can, but just want to make sure....thanks all

How often do you have to top them off? You have nearly 2 qts. of oil in each, you do the math.

like i said its very minor.....no topping off needed as of yet and i noticed it two weeks ago. ive driven about 600 miles on it. i was just worried that a release in pressure there might cause a problem. not to worried about a little water getting in there since its going to be fixed when i get back.

just keep it topped up

unless you're dripping like a faucet, you'll probably only have to add a teaspoon during your trip.

thanks for all the replys...you know marc that is most likely the culprit. when i looked the breather lines where completly cacked in mud. do i just pull them off and blow through them to make sure there clear? if there not clear whats the best method to unclog them?

yep, just pull them off and clear out.

water, wd-40, plastic safe contact cleaner etc...

when the plug up the internal pressure has no place to go...path of least resistence blah, blah, blah you get the point.

good luck, hope that's what it is
