Can we substitue D1 headlights for later model lights?

I just replaced the main bulbs on my '97 D1 with the new Sylvania SilverStar. I can't remember the part number, but these bulbs changed my headlight beams from dull yellow to brilliant blue/white. It was pretty impressive.

Where did you learn that expensive meant better?

the bulb is the same.the headlight housing for a D2 is about 1/2 price,exept for the 2004 headlght housing.

I can't find it on their website, but the fall edition of Roversnorth's news letter shows a:
