I almost didn't make it. While talking to Bill yesterday I went out to look under the truck for him to give him some info on RTE drag links and TRE's. While looking under there I discovered grease slung all over the PS CV boot and steering knuckle!!!! It must of just ripped because I hadn't noticed it until then and I've been under there a few times. At that point I started calling some rover buddies to see what I could find. After talking to Brandon I spoke with Corey and low and behold he had an entire CV and axle for the PS. He said I could have it and I picked it up this morning. With some expert advice from Corey I removed and replaced the bad one including removing and reinstalling the sealed hub (without a press thanks Corey). She's back in action so I'll be heading out Friday AM. We have a great community here in WNC and I just wanted to publicly thank Corey for helping me out!!!

Cheers,

Mike

PS the damage to the boot was done by a small stick some mud and small rocks. If you have a DII make sure you get all that crud out from on top of the steering knuckles after wheelin'. Learn from my experience. I'm usually good about cleaning underneath but all it takes is one time!

Did anyone get any photos? I thought I saw a couple cameras.

Yeah I got some at the camp site but I think Meredith got some when I was wallering in the mud jacking up after rolling the tire off the rim:banghead: Hopefully Chad will post them. I will get what I have up tomorrow.

Cheers,

Mike

Again! Did you fix it the same way you did the other weekend...or were you sittin' in the mud?

In the mud so that was out of there unless I rolled another one off. Then I'd had to have found a way to clean it up to get it to reseat. But this was after some serious trail maintenance and I was the second to "bust" a bead on this particular climb. It was really my fault. As I got near the top of this run my right front tire grabbed the wall and next thing you know I was looking at the sky. I guess with the low pressure I came down on the wall at a severe angle and it pealed the tire. I hurd it go boom. You should have seen the look on Brandon's face. It was a look of disdain, sort of like this  All is well and I just finished resetting my Staun deflators to a higher pressure.

Cheers,

Mike

I think Brandon is quickly becoming the trail maintenance go-to guy. I am bummed that I keep missing these trips. Life keeps getting in the way.

That was a tough spot in the trail, I was suprised to make it up since I was at the end had open diffs and no electronics to help. Driver skill and determination right?
