what happened to the LR3 ? Where was I ?

You were up on the bald yacking with the Hickory boys when the LR3 about went off the side of the mountain. I went down and had to winch him back on the trail. It was double. He hooked his winch straight ahead and I was perpendicular and hooked up to his rear end. As he pulled forward I pulled his ass end back up on the trail. Yeah where were you? Oh I know you were drinking my beer and playing cowbell up on the bald!

I was about to ask if you guys thought my LR3 would have done well....but i see there was a recovery team for the LR3 there. Did his truck have mud tires? HD package?
I was thiking about going there this time.

i have a relatively funny story..... So I join the ONSLRS and i go to Uwharrie, didnt drive mine, (NO MUD TIRES) I pussed out. So i look at the ONSLRS website and see that in Nov8th there is a ride at Caney Fork so I leave Raleigh and head to the meet up place I get there at 830 or so and 930 comes around and havent seen any Rovers... I begin to get VERY irritated around 1015 so I say f'em and I left.

I remember the guys name that said where to meet and time and all that jazz, so needless to say I was rehearsing what I was going to say to him when I get home. I get back home jump straight on the webite and look at the calendar of events and ONLY THEN did I see that it was NOV 8TH 2007. I felt 2feet tall and vowed to myself that I would never tell anyone i did that... but I think its funny now. Anyways, I hope someone can get a good chuckle out of this. I apologize to Charles.. I know you ears had to be burning up that day.

The LR3 was an HSE with winch and locking diff but street tires. He managed to go off the trail, tear a tire, and run into the back of a D90. He didn't have a good day. I will tell you this though. A perfectly stock '03 DII (no cdl) managed the trails that day and only needed one tug. It showed the LR3 up! I wouldn't have believed it had I not seen it myself.

Cheers,

Mike

I bet the LR3 would do fine if it had someone that could drive. Rear ended a Defender, I bet that was bad for the LR3. To bad CC didnt have his up there...

Tires would have made a big difference and no real damage but a ding. The LR3's winch and tray hit the hitch on the D90. We overheard the D90 driver asking for the LR3 driver's insurance info. WTF?!? it was a trail ride and the LR3 was standing on his horn when he went sliding. The 90 just sat there and got kissed.

Cheers,

Mike

btw I like our small groups much better!

Thanks for the props Mike. I didn't know he asked for his insurance info. I think that is BS. When you are off roading anything can happen. I know one thing.... If he is stranded I wouldn't want to winch him. What if you scratched or dented his rig. I guess I better up my insurance:p

When is the next trip?!?!
