Hey all -- first post for me!!!!! Yay!!!!!!

2001 SE7 DII

So I need to check out a CLUNK and LOCK in regards to my front wipers. It gives a loud clunk as it goes and tends to not go all the way down and often over-runs the window itself. It also doesnt seem to park right staying too high on the window and I have to push on it to have it go down (no resistance). Lastly and lately it will lock up vertical on a swipe and stay there for about 10-20 seconds before it goes back down.
It might be the motor - it might be the assembly - but before I order parts I have one issue....
I tried to take the air plenum off - and I verified how using the Rave disc - and cant get it off.
One center bolt low down, two plastic screws with clips, side moldings and rubber molding, wiper arms and big nuts etc all out. and for some reason the very center of the plenum seems to be bolted or glued down I can lift either side - but not the middle.
Any ideas? Is it snapped in place like a side lite fitting?

Any help would be appreciated. While we are at it - any recommendations as to where to order the replacement parts will also be appreciated!
Thanks,

Scott

Hmmmm...I've had this apart before and I remember it being tricky the first time. Did you pop the hood and look to see if there is anything holding it? Or maybe it will slide out better with the hood up? For some reason I do think there is a bolt in the middle.

As to actually fixing your problem though - did you try tightening the 13mm nut under the little cap that holds the arms on? I've had that loosen a little and cause some similar problems to what you describe. If that doesn't do it, you could try atlantic british for the wiper assembly.

I had the hood up and down - all the bolts and screws that I can find - and I checked it against the Rave CD - so all that they list - was removed and it still seems stuck in the center - like perhaps there is a pop-connection, or a tab??? I did get the bolt in the middle too!

And yea I tried the bolt too lol -- it is definitely in the assembly. I saw the assembly and motor on the AB website - but if I cant get to the unit then I will have to bring it to a land rover mechanic...

Thanks!

I hear you -- I didnt take the hood off but I took out all the bolts on the lower cowl (plenum) and thats the part that doesnt seem to want to come off!
I didnt think the hood mattered but I can give that a try as well...

Thanks,

the cowl has plastic screws along its edge and then the wiper arms come off then the wiper motor nuts and washers......the cowl then sort of moves down toward engine and up at the same time there are clips that secure under windshield. try to pull down a little then up at an angle

Ahhhhhhhh - clips would explain alot!
so does that mean the hood needs to definitely come off? Or is this something that can be pursuaded to come without a fight?

Thanks!

Got it off! -- Wish I had thought about it having clips before. The motor had all 3 bolts out and just lying in the bottom tray so it was just flopping around in there. Got it back on and tightened everything.

I did end up removing the hood -- I think its the only way to really do it correctly - however - I got away without removing the window moldings.

Thanks for the advice!

Now its on the the passenger door switch and the the seat heater!
