Cap and Trade Bill Anyone?

Caught the O'Reilly factor today and they were discussing the Cap and Trade Bill (the proposed one). According to what i gathered, if passed it would furthermore restrict some of the liberties we have and potentially hit the middle class yet with more taxes. One of the things included in the bill is a "state" inspection of the household prior to sale, to ensure that it does indeed comply with the "energy efficient" standards. Apparently if it does not, you will not be able to sell the house until such improvements have been made. In addition to other things, there will be a higher charge for use of energy, i.e. electricity; whereby if you go over a designated cutoff amount, not only will you have to pay a regular rate, but a higher ("gone over allotted amount") fee. Any thoughts on this?

I have been, in my own mind, trying to explain away how these people can honestly make decisions like this while trying to rescue the economy. With this bill I am now certain they are destroying the economy on purpose.

They want as many people as possible to loose private sector jobs so they can get as many people as possible working for the Federal Government. This is how they will get us all to rely on them. This is how they will justify federal health care. This is how they will justify the cap on personal salaries (yes, this is something Obama has spoken out on) and this is how they will hold onto the House, Senate, White House, and the Supreme Court.

At what point will we all be so pissed off that we will actually fire all of them?

Please read between the lines people. Don't listen to what they say, do your own research.

Even the dems say they don't have enough votes in the senate to break a fillibuster. Stay tuned for a watered down version of this bill to be submitted in the Senate by Oct.

It's socialism in a nutshell: get everyone to rely on the government to regulate and control everything. One move shy of communism in my book. Unfortunately, it's going to take a non-Socialist president elected into power to change this agenda and we will have to wait till 2012 to make that change. So, expect the downward spiral to continue while Adolph Obama is still in power.

Another thing to add to this bill is the universal healthcare as well, which is viewed by some, if passed, as a huge downfall for us all. Something that will put over 50 percent of our economy into the hands of the government. And there is no way that is good of course. Now I wonder, looking back, do those who have voted for Obama regret it? Or are they still mesmerized by the CHANGE (for the worst)?

Watch Goldman Sachs turn this into the next commodity bubble. They will run up the prices on emissions credits, corner the market and then scew people...again.

OCR of a Matt Taibbi article in Rolling Stone, which explains how Goldman Sachs has been pumping bubbles and selling short for the last 100 years.

They've been promoting this cap and trade for a long time because they want to turn carbon credits into the next dot com/housing/oil speculation bubble.

So the government won't be the beneficiary, therefore it's not socialism, it's more of the brand of extreme capitalism that got us where we are now.

As long as there are no term limits, and no campaign finance reform, goldman, aig, jpm, etc. etc. will own our government and get what they want, while the rest of us rot. As long as you guys keep thinking it's a D vs. R issue the aggro capitalists will hoodwink you again.

As an employee of 'Da Man', I have better health benefits than I did while working for a nationwide health care company!

The Lou!
Is this for real!?!?! So someone with 120 year old house like mine has no chance in hell of ever being able to resell without totally rebuilding it? Law makers can't be that oblivious to how the normal folk live and understand that we can't afford one of their fancy decked out LEED certified Green homes, and that some of us enjoy the architecture and history found in these older, often times Urban decayed homes. The Urban decay will continue as no one will be able to afford to bring these homes up to their ridiculous levels and no one will be able to sell the houses they have. Increasing foreclosure and home abandonment.

Smooth move Ex-Lax.

As long as my house isn't pumping out huge plumes of black smoke then they don't need to be up in my bidnezz. Secondly, what they are overlooking is the majority of these homes are in such impoverished areas that they can't afford heat and cooling so they aren't using excessive amounts of energy for these "luxury" items. Again hitting the lower middle class.

Maybe I should just give up, quit my job, and sit on my front porch all day while the rest of you suckers take care of my sorry ass. I'll be sure to log on and thank all you bitches for the cheese.

I think there is truth in what you've said here. It's hard to keep motivated to work hard and succeed, just to be taxed and/or regulated to death.
It feels as if the government is actually encouraging mediocrity...

lol, yeah, sounds like you've tuned-in and turned-on, now you're ready to drop out, heh? I'm with you. What's the point of continuing to support this level of systemic corruption?

Rryhne's got it right, there really is no political solution to this mess. The Obama Brigade is not going to hold any of the bankers responsible, remember, Wall Street was/is a huge contributor to Obama and the DNC. RNC too, for that matter. Bush was clueless and powerless as Paulson and Giethner engineered the bailout for these crooks. And don't look to Congress as it's obvious they're bought and paid for. It's up to us.
