I personally wouldnt replace my speakers unless I could get the stock look, I personally cant stand it when people rig up speakers without caring what they look like.

Going full custom, but this is what I will be building for the doors. I think it gets the point across without the excess bling. It is very functional as well.

Cheers,

Yea, I listen to a wide variety of music, so I went with the JL 10W6. If you're looking for something specifically for rap then you could probably get away with a sub that wouldn't require as much volume and may be able to build a smaller box. Then again, if space isn't an issue you could always fill the rig with subs....
I listen to pretty much everything, but anything with alot of bass sounds like people farting...and it's not like there's alot of space back there to take up with a box.

This box does stick out a little, but it's been managable, it's out about 1.5" past the wheel well. It definitly provides all the sound you'd need, any more and you couldn't enjoy the music inside the cab.

That's a nice look Greg. Kinda what I'd like to do. Maybe cover the components of the speaker and make the top part of the box into a small storage bin.

Nice looking door panel Kennith.

Thanks, Above the box (not finished yet) there is a cabinet for the ECM to be mounted and the brain to the DVD player.

Not sure if I have posted this here before or not. I didn't want to do anything too excessive with the system in my Disco, so here it is. Simple, affordable, and easy to remove:

What happens when you hit that mudhole that swallows yer truck and water seeps inside and kills your amps...
I love car audio but not enough to put it in a Disco that might see hurrican flooded roads or worse.

M,

I don't worry, because the whole system is going into water tight compartments with powered exhaust vents exiting at ceiling level, and all the panels are made of Uv stabilized 1/2 inch thick black high density polyurethane laminated with sound deadener. My system is going to be more waterproof than the vehicle. All the speakers I use are equipped with aluminum voice coils, butyl rubber surrounds, and synthetic cones, and will be in waterproof boxes.

The only thing that could possibly get wet are the speaker cones, and that ain't no biggie. :D

Cheers,

Kennith

ahah yeah tim it makes everything move. but if im going on a camping trip i can have it out of there in like 5 min's. The best part about it is when you pull up to a honda ricer with a fart can exhasut at a light and you just crank it and they look at you like whatttttttttt.

I've always got too much crap in the back to have anything that size. Is that a 13.5w7. I installed one of those in a Lincoln Agrovator with a 1000/1 JL slant series amp and it bounced a quarter about 6" off the roof.

oh man yeah 13.5's are bad, na its just w7 12 but in that VT box its nasty. I can get about 5" of quarter jumpage. I have had power hx2 fosgates, an audiobahn flame Q's, and they cant touch the loudness and sound quality of the w7.

It's not in the truck yet, but it sits happily on a shelf awaiting the impending install. :D

I used MBQuarts as well then added a powered sub-tube, easily disconnected and it takes little space with a good thump. I removed my rear door subs and my sub-tube is aimed at the empty factory-sub holes and resonates well in the rear door.
