How much you want to bet it was meant to fail to put the car companies into more trouble? How many millions did the dealers spend on advertising for this? How many of them gave a car away before getting the money from the government?

Either this administration is so stupid they couldn't figure out how to keep a government give-away going for more than a week. Or it purposefully failed in order to hurt private businesses even more.

a fuel pump is $90 and 30 min to install had you posted about it.

brakes are like $225 in parts and about 2 hours work with simple tools.

Come on....I know you live in California and drive a smart car, a cube car, and a hot-rodded ricer, but be a MAN for once and post that article on a website where we can leave reader feedback!

True, but it was an $1800 brake job. I'll bet his mechanic has a sweet race car too.

yeah I think the guy is full of bull shit.

it takes a complete idiot to run the brakes till they go metal to metal.

so he loves his new kid but was willing to endanger his wife.

what a putz!!

I have to agree with Musky...even I can do a brake job on a DI!! Pads alone are just a $40 repair.

Sorry David, but it sounds like you know NOTHING about cars and repair. I'm guessing you had a pit crew for your Toyota racer.

uh-oh, 2 billion more $$ approved with a rush vote to continue this program, too lazy to post link.

Whatever happened to reduce, reuse, recycle??? This is a crock.

This obviously was not a decision based on

1) Cost / Financials
2) Family Safety

This was a decision to buy a 'Cool' Cube.

That's fine, just don't present it otherwise.

$3000 - ~$300 in parts+tax = ~$2670

$2670 / 3 hours = $890/hr

Now the parts/labor time estimate is probably somewhat low if bearings are replaced but seriously ......

Tony is laughing all the way to the bank.
