Castrol High Mileage oil

Crower says so. I dont think is as much ZDDP in the oils as you think. ZDDP kills catalytic converters, I know the above oil I mentioned has a high shear rating. I know ZDDP is Zinc something or another and very important to the well being of these engines. Napa 1068 or 1545 are the filters.

Ok...Castrol 20/50w HM in, with the K&N that I'd already bought - about $13 for the filter. I lose about .5 qts between 3K oil changes, my motor seems really messy you'd think I'd be loosing much more than I do. We'll see how the Castrol does in there and if it changes seals leaking. I have also been wanting to go to a less expensive filter. I'll switch to a Napa next change.

i would guess it stopped the rear cross seals from leaking...

Actually my daily isnt a rover. So no cross seals, just a normal RMS.

Try valvoline maxlife. Castrol makes a good oil for overseas but the oil they supple in the US is average at best. Castrol is bottom of the name brand barrel. On par with house brand.

Fram is gay. Go to napa and get a filter there or just anything besides fram.

I swear the combination of a 1/8th turn of the sump drain plug and Mobil-1 High Mileage 10w-40 turned my big leaks into small seeps.

Is any one having problems with Mobile 1 filters I switched from K&N filter my oil light came on. Going to switch back and see if it goes out. Maybe just coincidence I have a new oil switch to put in and im going to drop the pain to make sure the pick ups not clogged.

Well like I said I was at walmart and the parts store was closed . I usually use Baldwin , Hastings or Fleetgaurd

They're nearly identical. But, the K&N provides a smidge more flow. It shouldn't be noticeable in a rover. Maybe a high performance sportscar.

The Mobil filters better than the K&N. Not by much.

This suggests K&N and Mobil 1 are virtually the same...take it for what it's worth. But makes for interesting reading, I'm sure a lot of you have seen this already.

Where do you find out about the media used? I remember reading on a different website about filters that they also used the same media. On this website the measurements on the filter media between the two were the almost the same...on the K&N filter it had 57 pleats, the Mobile 1 had 55 pleats, element surface area was also a little larger on the K&N vs. the Mobil 1. That seems to indicate the K&N filters a slight bit better? I'm not an expert though and could have the dynamics wrong...but seems like more filter surfact media area...more pleats, means more filtering?
