Cats

Haven't been able to find any info on a OBD II compliant generic cat. Went to my local muffler shop and they said CATCO didn't list any cats for the Disco past '95' in their 2004 catalog. Just want to make sure that when I buy a generic cat it's going to fit. Any help would be much appreciated.

p.s. What's everyone's idea on weather I should try the old O2's before buying new one's or am I to be sure that I need em. Have gotten two 1193 codes or whatever the O2 one is, but my CE light has gone off a few times on nice cool days over the past several months. Leads me to believe that if the sensors were bad, the CE light wouldn't ever go off.

Eric, that generic cat does not look like it will fit a 96+ Disco. There is very little room between the framerail and each cat, especially on the pass side. also, both stock cats have staggered inlets & outets, not both centered like on the generic versions.

Old O2s first

p.s. What's everyone's idea on weather I should try the old O2's before buying new one's or am I to be sure that I need em.

Try running with the old ones first. I was getting a code, about twice a week, prior to changing cats. Used same O2 sensors with new cats and no codes after.

Eric if you anywhere near 4 Corners you can come up and we can check it out - i have two magnaflow 9005 waiting to be shipped back, as they are 2.25" (for 4.0L engine) and 94-95 using 2".

Alternatively you can simply walk into your local muffler shop and ask them if they would lcan weld new cats, and ask quote and part# for ones they gonna put on. Then tell them welding is ok, but part - you will buy online (if you aint like their price. And most likely - you will not)
