oops your right, so I would guess the front bumper/brushguard would be the best location.....

Ive spoken to several people that sell cb's and antennas and i asked if i could mount mine on the d-pillar of my RRC with a ground attached to the mount to chassis. was told it would be fine as long as 2/3 of the antenna was above roof line.

I havent tried it yet but i would think as long as the antenna is grounded it should be ok!?

does this sound right to any of you?

Hey Tommy,
Just wondering if your antenna is a Firestick, and do you have a spring at the mount? I'm shopping for antennas for my cb now.

I just got mine from them as a kit and the guys there were very helpful, might want to give them a try.

Seemed pretty inexpensive and they had what i was looking for

I am using a wilson No Ground Plane antenna after getting less than favorable results from a body ground; however when i ran a 4ga wire from the chassis to to cb antenna plate, I got better SWR, but not as good as the NGP

I think aluminum body and cb gounds donts mix well

my NGP gets me something like 1 and change depending on which channel 1 or 40; my body grounded one was gettin me something from 2 to 4 of what ever units that dial measures

Must say I am VERY happy with my wilson NGP

got it at a truck stop recommended by the dude at the counter who was sure this was the way to go for aluminum or fiberglass mounting

I got this on my way to winter romp 2007 and its worked well since

I mounted mine in one of the headlight washer holes and the swr meter loved it. FWIW when I put a spring under it, the thing would swing all over the place and rest on the hood when at highway speed. It was soon removed.
