I am looking to install a new CB (Cobra 75WX - all in one).

I was wondering where you guys are running your power leads from?

You running them switched from the fuse box, etc?

Pictures would be helpful, but description is good.

Put an aux. fuse panel as close to the battery as possible, run a heavy (8ga.) lead from the bat. then just run a lead from the fuse panel to the CB, the fuse panel will allow you to add extra circuits for HAM, lights, GPS, or whatever else you mite want. As for the lead, I used 16ga. wire, but you'd probably be fine with 18ga. Ground the CB as close as possible, I pulled up my carpet and ran the wire right to the trans tunnel.

You could, but I'd just go to Pep-Boys and buy a cig-lighter adapter and stick it on the end on the CB power cord, much simpler and just as functional. The problem with the cig. lighter is that it needs to have the key in the "on" position to work, which makes it a pain in the ass when you want to leave the radio on while hanging out at camp waiting for others to show-up/contact you. It's not really that big of an issue, I just hate leaving the keys in the ignition all the time.

Right, I like the idea of having the CB stay on while the truck is off. I do like the idea as well of the aux. fuse box, too. Is there a certain style/kind that I should get to support hellas on the front and a work lamp on in the rear? AMPs, fuse size, etc.

I have the same CB in my '00 D2. I actually got a little "add a circuit" jumper that I put in my fuse box under the steering wheel. It was real cheap and quick. You'll just have to find a good ground.

I got around the "turning the key" to activate by hooking it up to the radio fuse. It's always hot.

I'm pretty sure you can get them at any Autozone for under $10. Here's what they look like:

Hope this helps.

BTW, I've suffered no electrical issues, shorts, etc. It's been in my truck since '00.
