Hey, I was wondering what the best way to wire my CB Radio to the fuse block is. The manual that came with the CB just said "Put it to a switched fuse in the fuseblock so it will turn off when the car is off" .. I have never wired anything to the fuse block, and don't know where to start.

thanks

The best place to connect a CB to is directly to the battery. This will give you the "cleanest", noise-free power possible. Of course even doing this, you should have the power fused. Just in case.

Of course this isn't switched electricity, so leaving the CB on will provide a drain. Of course if the CB is left on when you start the car with a switched electical source, you could send a spike to the CB.

If you want a nice clean install, and have never done this, you have two choices:

1. Hard (lengthy) way - Wire directly to battery with a relay to a source from the ignition switch. (best option) No power drain when engine is off and clean power source, but you have to understand electrics a little in order to make this work.

2. Wire the radio to the Cigar lighter power wire and don't worry about it or add a noise filter. 5 minutes work and easy. Not the best choice, but it will work with minimal issuses.
