Man, I'm pumped. I want to do some serious bike touring this summer so finger's crossed I'll be picking up a 1998 CBR 1100 XX Blackbird w/ full tour bags under $4k.

I've never ridden one of these bikes, but 150+ hp at the crank should just be a blast.

Anyone have any experience with one of these bikes? I really want something I can do 500+ miles per day.

I don't think I could do ONE hundred miles a day on a sport bike...

now, my 1978 Yamaha XS1100.... I could ride that for hours and hours, and it had lots of getup 'n go.

The CBR blackbird it is more of a Touring than a sport bike , although fits with the ST's or even some SS style bikes.

I made the mistake to ride my Duc 999R from MD to Daytona and while we did it in no time at all I needed to re-draw the line on my butt *LOL*

Not so sure you'll be that comfortable after the first or second leg of your trip

EDIT

Joe posted similar as I was typing ;-)

I've ridden a Blackbird but not for 500 miles per day. Based on my short ride (and the amount of time I've spent on my Buell S3T), I say that the stock seat isn't up for the task. The best solution is to get an Airhawk or similar seat pad. I regularly ride 300-400 miles a day on my Buell. But I've done over 600 with a borrowed airhawk. Highly recommended for seriously long rides.

Cool. The bike currently has a corbin seat. I'll see how it feels. I've used an Airhawk and I agree they are worth it!
