I just had a CDL lever installed by JC's Rover 4x4 in denver and dollar for dollar i'd consider it the best option available for anyone who bought a DII that relys on it's faulty ABS traction control. What were they thinking when they signed off on killing the CDL inside the cabin.... and furthermore the complete removal of the pin on certian models after 2000.... its just completely asinine. Otherwise, i just wanted to see what the rest of you had done either at home or bought.

I'm not cool - used the AMV kit from Australia. Still working beautifully.

i heard there's not a direct link with the DI shifter (which i would have preferred strictly due to the in-cabin conveinence vs me having to get out and reach under the passenger's door to pull my lock) where the linkage needs to be jockeyed or bent to fit... ... one other thing... why doesen't someone try putting a toyota braking system into a rover to correct the faulty modulator probelm and soft pedal response... would there be some way to trick the current ecu into thinking that the mod's fine 24/7 and then just have the toyota downhill assist and abs work on its own.... they have a much sharper and more powerful pedal feel also....... just a thought

The Hi/Low selector rod needs to be bent approximately 1." I am in the process of putting the D1 linkage on my D2. I will do it on Tuesday and let you know how it goes. I have the lever and had to get out this weekend when the wife got the truck stuck in the mud.

I picked a complete linkage up for nothing at a local salvage yard. Start looking for a D1 shifter and do it, or save for a 04 linkage if you want to.

I have had the lever for about 6 months and found a good deal and have a week of vacation to do the swap.

If it works for you, keep it. If you get tired of getting muddy to engage the lever, change it. The instructions are well doccumented and doable.

the 04 cable option is by far the coolest, but it is expensive, or hard to find cheap and used. If you can swing the $$, or wait for a deal, I don't think there's a better way to do it ...

04' linkage in my 99' DII. Bought it from a salvage yard for about $140. Complete with shifter lever, cables, and bracket that mounts to the t-case nipple. Very easy to install and works great.

If you can find the 04 CDL or can afford it from ExpeditionExchange.com for $700 then go for it, but if you are like me and think $700 for shifter is ridiculous for a '00 DII, then do the DI CDL and call it a day.

Your Jeff (pull switch) solution should be fine if you already have it in. Just yank it at the trailhead and forget about it until you get off.

My guess is that you will never install another now that you have a working solution.

AMV Solenoid kit for me too. Worked flawlessly for the last 2.5 years and it integrated into the dash beautifully. All 3 options are good though. D1 linkage, D2 (04) linkage, or the AMV kit. I believe GBR also sells a kit similar to the AMV one.
