I'm almost 1/2 way done with my CDL install (D1 linkage).

I'm to the part where I've removed the stock high low shifter and have removed the other end of the cable that goes to the high/low shifter on the transfer case. Now I need to looses the jam nuts on that plate that is bolted to the transfer case so I can slide the cable back out of the way for the D1 linkage.

What size are those jam nuts? Apparently its a size I don't have...

Also is there any trick on getting these loose? I can't really get any of my wrenches down onto them. I think I'll have to go borrow one of those boxed ended wrenches with the ratcheting deal in the boxed part. Or at least it seems. The instructions I'm using show them doing it was an adjustable wrench but because of the angle that won't work... Any ideas?

I dont know... But let me know what you think of the D1 linkage so I can figure out whether or not to hold out for the 04 linkage or just save some dinero...

while you're holding out, just surf junkyard websites from time to time ... look for transfer cases from 04's ... they'll sometimes have the linkage, and deals can be good ... it can take awhile to find one, but it's worth it ...

I will do that and try and find some local junkyards.

I have another question for ya off the CDL topic... I see that you have a 4.6 in your DII and I just had mine put in and it idles a lot rougher than my 4.0 ever did. Im still in the break in period i guess up to 1k miles, but is that right as far as idle goes?

Also what size are the 4 bolts that bolt the D1 shifter down into place?

I thought I had them with the linkage but I can't find them now. I think they were like 10mm but I'm not sure...

On the jam nuts... I did use an adjustable crescent wrench on one side and a vis grip on the other. I don't remember having an issue with that nut. All i can say is do you best and take the opportunity to go buy some new tools.

On the bolts... I have no idea!

Im thinking that the bolts were 8.8mm when i did mine but im not sure. I also cannot remember the length for sure but i believe the two long bolts were 1 1/2 and the 2 short bolts were 1 1/4. Check my cdl thread because i might have put the size on there.

The nuts on the cable are 15/16ths or the metric equivalent.
