Central California trip this Saturday

We're going to Clear Creek Management Area this Saturday if anyone is interested in joining us.

Clear Creek is between Coalinga and King City, about 50 miles south of Hollister. Go here for more info about the area.

We will be meeting at 9 am at the Safeway at 591 tres Pinos Rd in Hollister.

hey, sounds like fun. I'll meet you guys at the entrance to the park since Hollister is out of my way.

How many are going?

There are about 6 vehicles going so far, possibly 3-4 others.

We can meet you at Oak Flat Campground, which is the first developed campground on Clear Creek road if you enter from the south. We should arrive there around 10:30.

We will be using CB 7, FRS 7 and 146.5 MHz if there are any hams in the group.

Sounds good. I have been to clear creek twice during the summer and it was pretty tame. I am sure it will be a bit more challenging int he mud.

Thinking of going but how would I get there from the central coast Shell Beach Pismo area?

To get to Clear Creek from Shell Beach I would recommend the following route

Take highway 101 north to King City

From King City take county road G13 east to Bitterwater

at Bitterwater turn left on highway 25 traveling north to Coalinga Road

turn right on Coalinga road traveling east

follow on Coalinga Road to Clear Creek Road, thats all I know

approx distance/time 124 miles/2:45 hours

This would be my first time to Clear Creek

Will's directions are good. Once you get to Clear Creek road, you will see the Clear Creek Management Area sign. Just continue up the road until you get to the first campground.

The GPS coords for the campground are N36deg 21' 40.8" W120deg 45' 33.1"
