I see a few typos in his posts. Do you remember when you posted the following?:

"in regaurds to the g4 decals, I have a vinyl cutter, i could check into making those for you. Could be pretty economically viable too."

bottom line. Bags suck.

Hey Erik --

OK you've said the same thing three times now, and it wasn't on topic the first time. The guy's installed spacers, and has a problem. He didn't ask for your approval of that decision, he asked for help with situation he's in. He already explained he can't afford a spring/shock lift kit. So either make a good-faith effort to help him, or shut the f--k up. If you really have a big hard-on about springs, start a new thread. Better yet, don't. It's already been beaten to death along with your hard-on.

Thanks for your input. Im letting him know that theyre going to eventually explode and they will cost a lot more to fix than to put springs in. He said he was new to this, didnt know much, and wanted all the input that he could get. Since Ive been in his situation before, as not only a young rover owner, but also the air spring situation, I was giving him all the first hand knowledge I have on the matter. And whats with you and talking about hard-ons? And as far as the spring topic goes, I think everyone would agree with me on the matter of Springs vs. Airbags.

So do us all a favor and go police the forums @ muddyoval. Better yet, you shut the f--k up.

I'm having someone else install the exact same spacer as we speak, but the first thing that occurs to me is to verify that the spacers at the rear are properly fastened down, and that the air springs are fully engaged to spacers at the bottom, and the pins and clips in place at the top. If any of that can move around I can imagine it would make quite a ruckus on bumps. The other thought is to verify that your ride height was correct to begin with. In principle adding a 2" spacer to a properly functioning SLS D2 should have approximately the effect (plus 1/4" or so) as pressing the off-road switch did without the spacers, since all the spacer does is add 2" to the length of the spring (yes there's a change in spring rate). My point being if your shocks didn't "thump" in offroad mode before, they shouldn't thump in normal mode now.

You would be getting those same spacers. And you would let someone else do the work for you. I hope they give you enough clearance for those speed-bumps in the mall parking lot.

I don't want to get into the spring vs bag argument in the slightest, but to the OP - do yourself a favor and keep and eye on the free/classifieds and snag a spare air bag or two.

Guys who are doing the swap seldom keep them for sentimental purposes and are usually just looking to dump them.

OK, now I heard you FOUR times. If you want to say the same thing over and over there's this neat feature in Windows call cut and paste. Have a field day. But where'd you get such a high threshold for boredom? Oh, yeah, that thing you have for springs.

That was ALL of your first hand information? That pretty much explains everything. But keep repeating it. Maby it will eventually seem significant.

You told him it was his Watts linkage. Wrong.
You told him airbags are expensive to replace. Wrong. ($150 each, 20 minutes to swap out.)
You said he asked for all the input he could get. Wrong. You made that up.

"Better yet, you shut the f--k up"

No, you shut up. Infinity.

Yeah, after I replaced the head gaskets in one weekend, and retrofitted an entire SLS system to a D2 that didn't come with it in another, I decided to pay someone else to do the boring work. I'm sorry you don't approve of the way I spend my money. It must suck not having graduated from high school.

Just to chime in here, I also have a D2 riding on a budget lift using RR Classic Rear springs all the way around, Plus a heavy ARB Winch bumper up front, I can, and have been Thumping the rear stock shocks for over a year now, and they still seem to be holding up. They have no leaks or reduction in performance!. I also have 1.5" spacers under the RR springs to add a bit more lift, it rides nice & handles the bumps offroad, the only time I need to watch out, is when the axles may droop down and over extend the shocks.. but as time goes on, you know your rig & will know the speed to wheel where there is no shock clunking. I currently run 33" tires with this lift and the tires fit well.

Who the fuck do you think you are?? I guarantee I will make more $$ in my lifetime with my Degree than you will with anything you do. You think youre a tough guy? Mocking people through the internet? I posted my opinions on the matter and tried helping the kid. What have you done for this thread? Thanks for you 50 helpful posts here on dweb. I cant wait to see what you know everything about next. Im going based off the experiences Ive had with my DII. Now you think your a top shit backyard mechanic because you got a little dirty? I hope those airsprings help soften the load of bullshit you carry with you. And when did I say that it was his watts link??? I said check it. I never diagnosed his problem because apparently I have no idea what Im talking about here. You seem to have all the answers. And a great move it was, replacing coils with airsprings. Now you will look like a baller when youre cruising the mall parking lot. While youre at the mall, could you get me a hot pretzel?? Thanks.

They'll be fine on road, off road you just won't get all the down travel you could have if you swapped to a longer shock and they'll top out.

You will be fine with the stock shocks on a two inch spacers. The OMEs have the same travel as stock but are a 1/2 inch longer. You might want to watch your brake and ABS lines up front since you will have 2"s more droop with the spacers.

If your just going 2" you could even getaway w/o a spacer in the rear. Just rig the sensor (what I would do for now). But having the spacers in the rear would be better, but your shocks wont like them.

Find some spare bags. They're cheap if you shop around. Some people just give them away.

BTW: How much are you spending on the spacers? I might have a cheaper solution.

Put on the OMEs. Everything is cool and no more shock topping/bottoming out. My son noted that the bags were extended while sitting. He drilled two new holes on the adapters, a little closer together and the truck leveled out.
