I thought some of you DIYers out there would like to see this design.
It cost around $200 in materials, though labor was significant. I've been impressed by its strength, dispite what some might call inferior materials.
Materials: 100' of thin-wall galvinized tubing from Lowes
2' of 3/16x2" flat stock (for the gutter feet)
2' of 1/8x2x2" angle iron (for the brackets)
Misc Stainless hardware (quite pricey)
4 rattle cans of satin black
Bubber hose for gutter savers

Tools I used: 4" angle grinder
Dewalt recip saw
Hacksaw
5 lb sledge
Vicegrips and assorted clamps
Cheapo Craftsman wirefeed welder
Wire brush
Level
Framing square
Other random tools that everyone has.
Hope this post helps... And if anyone needs demensions, let me know.

Believe it or not, I used my neighbors shrubs (and leverage)... To make the bends.

I picked up a "conduit bender" when I bought the supplies (75 greenbacks, ouch), but returned it the next day. The bends that it made were bigtime ugly. To make tight bends like the classic SD racks, you either need to be much better than me (which isn't saying much), or have access to a real bender. That's why there are way more angles than bends on this rack.

pft, if only it was that easy.

Right on... After building this thing, I understand why the pros charge what they do. That's a lot of cutting and welding!..

$500 would work if someone gave me a fully automated set-up to crank these babies out with, but until then...

Well done! Looks good too. It's a great feeling when you finish a project like that. As far as "inferior materials," if it suits YOUR purpose then it is perfect.

No; welded it in my coat closet with the door closed... :ack:

Seriously though, do a seach about welding galvinized shtuff... There are a lot of misconceptions out there... But I still wore a mask. No taking chances.
