Trivia time:

Most folks don't know it, but Hellman's Mayonaise was originally a British brand. They were trying to enter the North American market with kind of a PR stunt, shipping the first cases across the Atlantic on the Titannic. Also lost in the mists of time is the fact that the Titannic was to make several ports of call on this side of the pond, sailing to VeraCruz, Mexico after departing New York.

Unfortunately, the Titannic hit the iceberg and sank, with the loss of many lives, and of course, all its cargo.

To this commemorate this loss, the date is know in Mexico as....

wait for it....

Sinko de Mayo.

Cheers

No, maybe the uneducated will say it is another countries Independence day. :eek:ut:

It is a common misconception that it is the Mexican Independence but it is not. It commemorates the defeat of the French army by the Mexicans at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. Not independence at all.

So that is your history lesson for the day.
