The blueprint is below. Amazingly, it's only a few pages.

From Sec. 8:

To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water

I had forgotten all about this. Could be a most useful clause these days....

I've said before in other threads that my other car is a Subaru so you don't get any points for that. I mostly drive my Disco, or ride my motorcycle, a 1978 Yamaha XS1100. I also live close to where I work, to cut down on commute time, and reduce my carbon footprint.

My mother IS a primary school teacher, but my pops is NOT a prof. He is a telephone and telecommunications technician. Yep. My pop's a phone-man. My step-mom was also a phone installer, now retired, and my step-dad is an artist/handyman who will probably NEVER retire, and entirely rebuilt his and my mom's house with the help of HIS dad who was a Tuna fisherman before becoming a fish and game exec.

Obviously my family has influenced me, but the primary way they've done so is to help teach me to make my own decisions and think for myself. There are plenty of things we disagree on, such as firearms and the second amendment - which they see as outdated, and I do not. They also used to be anti-4x4, until I took them on a nice trip through the mountains by Joshua Tree, and they saw firsthand how much less environmental damage is caused by a 4x4 on a trail than by a paved road with cars on it.

Oh, and I was born and raised in San Diego, a very conservative town. All of my grandparents are Republicans, and I love them dearly in spite of this.

We are all losers for the next 4 years. How many trillions must be spent before things turn around.

BHO was in Elkhorn Indiana talking about saving all those camper making jobs, yet today he signs a bill putting more pressure on manufacttures to build even SMALLER cars...Manufactures that are already struggling to stay afloat....

What are we gonna use to pull the campers that he saved the jobs for? A "Smart" car?

CSL, you win the oversimplification award. Manufacturing more smaller vehicles doesn't mean abandoning the large ones entirely. It just means trying to keep pace with the changing American lifestyle. Maybe those camper builders will need to star offering a small version too. There's a LOT of demand for very small campers.

Nothing wrong with that. Look at the WW2 generation. Raised on a farm, most didnt have a HS diploma, look what they got done. Sometimes the simplest answer is the best answer.

BHO is trying to SET lifestyle. When gas was cheap, everyone bought big SUVS, thats because people WANTED big cars.

Want to talk simple...BHO indicated the addition $1,300 per vehicle will be made up in fuel savings...

Because when our oil demand goes down, the suppliers wont scale back production.

I knew it!!! I told you guys he was gay!

And while I enjoy hugging trees with as much love as I can muster in my crotchety old conservative heart, I'm hoping the libs will still let me drive my Series. That is, if it's still running in 2016!

Not if the "Progressives" have their way!

http://www.hybridcars.com/incentives-laws/cash-clunkers-0727.html

Alan Blinder, a professor of economics at Princeton, would like the United States to launch a similar program on a national basis. His idea is for the government to set above-market buying prices—say 20 percent higher than Kelly Blue Book values—for vehicles older than 15 years, and make those attractive prices available to families with an income below $60,000. The worst gas-guzzlers might receive an extra premium. The government would buy the vehicles—and sell them to licensed recyclers, scrap them, or retrofit them with emissions controls before putting them back on the market.

So much for right to choose.

Does anyone make a retro fit kit to turn a Series into an electric car? ROFL That's all right, I'll yank the floorboards and Fred Flinstone that bitch to the coffee shop.

here's my new business venture:
There's lots of families out there with older cars that make MORE than $60K.
There's lots of families out there without older cars that make LESS than $60K.

For a modest fee, my company will put the owners of the cars together with the low-income families, selling vehicles to the gubmint, and we ALL make some gubmint cheese.

now don't steal my idea!

DEFINITELY some interesting family events! You wouldn't believe the email threads I've had with my Uncle, also a staunch conservative. But ultimately, we all love each other, and truly enjoy each other's company, so it's been interesting AND fun.

What's so gay about a Subaru? Those cars are awesome... fast, powerful, very well balanced and designed, great AWD and suspension, good ground clearance, they look good, they're practical, and they last forever. They've also got 5-star crash ratings, and you can put like 10 longboards on the roofrack. Excellent family-mobiles. (I also love how two out of my three vehicles, the ones I drive, are a truck and a motorcycle, and yet you point out the Subaru, the car my wife drives)

RE the electric series truck, AWESOME! Too bad he didn't use lithium-iron batteries instead of lead-acid though, his range would have been more like 200 miles instead of 50.
