Hey, I'm looking for some advice/pointers for cleaning under the hood/engine on my D2 after I go offroading.. generally I just hose it down pretty fast with the engine running and trying to avoid the alternator.. but is there anything else I should know or any products that I can get to make it cleaner?

Gunk Engine Brite in an aerosol can & a pressure-washer or steam cleaner.

I agree with Steve. A pressure washer (leaving the engine running) will get most of the crap cleaned out of the engine bay. Then wash the exterior, and then lay down and hit the underside of the rig and get all the mud/sand/crud off of the undercarridge, and you're all set until the next trail ride.

any recommendations on a cheap power washer? Also, i've never used one before, so any insight on what kind of pressure i should use before i could become harmful?

oh my god....

pressure washing, power washing and rover v8 should NEVER be used in the same web-page never mind in the same sentence!!! scary

I personally just wipe down with a damp rag after offroading. I pressure washed my 90 once - from the OUTSIDE, hood closed - after an offroading sessions. Water STILL managed to leak into the engine bay, run down a cable into a relay hiding down the back of the engine. Took me AGES to find the problem.

For the sake of a little extra time doing manual labor, I suggest NEVER directly pressure washing a rover engine.

If you have an air compressor then I'd recommend the Staun Massojet Air And Water Gun. You can check it out here https://www.expeditionexchange.com/staun/

I also wouldn't recommend using it in the engine compartment but it works great for the body and undercarriage.

Use a coin-op at a car wash. Just buy 2 or 4 car ramps before you go so you'll have room to get under it.

I recommend STARTING at the bottom since that's where the water will drain to, and you won't get AS wet.

We steam clean RRCs, RRs, D1s, D2s, NRRs, & Freeloaders all day every day. No problems except when the wash guys hit the dizzy.
