closed cell foam?

Anybody got any novel ideas on carpet replacement for a DD? Thought about replacing the open cell foam with closed cell but bc of the varying thickness under the carpet I'm not sure if that'll work well. Also saw another thread about lizardskin or a composite ceramic hurkuliner solution. It'd be for an 04' Disco, daily driver...

Thanks Dwebbers,

I have been thinking of a different solution. Tractor supply sells rubber mats for horse trailers, I am thinking of cutting one with a jigsaw for really thick rubber mats that I put in over the carpet.

Very true for cleaning the muck of the top, but the dern open cell foam is a super sponge if you happen to get into deep water. Obviously avoiding the deep water is a novel solution, but it def happens when least expected. It's taken two days for the carpet to dry to slightly damp in the hot sun outside of the Disco, a PITA if you ask me. I'd like to find something that will reduce heat and noice, considering its a dd, but is no biggy if water does happen to get in the cab.

you could always cut divots out of the closed cell foam where there are lumps in the floor. Having used it to pad armor with for years, I've gotten rather adept and carving out holes and dents in it, it's not so hard. Duct tape will help hold it in place too.
