clunking noise, not the normal one

Hello,

I'm hearing a disturbing noise. When I shift from reverse to drive I hear this loud clunk. It sounds like someone is giving a steel plate a sharp blow with a hammer. It is not the normal clunking sound. It's coming from this area at the front of the vehicle:

Once in drive there's a squeak with each rotation of the wheel.

There's also a layer of oil over the parts near the oil drain plug but it's not coming from the plug. Here's two images of that:

I had the 60000 service, with all the transmission stuff, done in early March.

Ideas?

I would suspect the U-Joint. Get under there and give that driveline a shake. Any play would give you a real nice ringing clunk when going into Drive.
