bad O2 (oxygen) sensor on the left bank. if oxygen sensor is bad, could be dumping too much fuel through your exhaust.

I just got the same code today but up until now no codes at all. Asked wife (who had driven last) and she said the only thing she did was fill the disco with gas(87). I normally fill with 91. Could this attribute to the problem? I am going to have to make a small sticker for the disco that says 91 or higher anyway. Thanks in advance.

You might want to check your sparkplug wires, last year I had the same code, replaced O2 sensors and got the same code. When I checked the sparkplug wires, a couple of 'em weren't seated all the way. Never got the codes since.

they're not hard to replace but depending on which one needs replacing they can be tricky to get too.... the cheapest place i've found for them is http://www.discountbritishparts.com/Disco_I/disco_i.html .
best thing you can do is getting it hooked up to and computer and see if the O2 is really toast or if it's a matter of bad connections like Wes had said... good luck

after replacing sparkplugs, wires, cap, rotor, O2 sensors... the only thing that keeps my 95 DI from throwing a code 44 or 45 is to ONLY fill it with super unleaded....

This has only been a problem since ticking off 130K miles or so... prior to this i only bought super unleaded when gas was cheap... now i always put it in.... one full take full of non super and a code will surely be thrown... give her super... and shes happy (codeless)
