I have cleared these two codes that keep coming up after just a few miles of driving my 02 D2. From what I read it could be multiple issues. Does any one know if there is any significance , that both of these codes coming up together. And they both come on in just a few miles of driving. Looks like could be abs related. Any help would be great. Thanks

The 1590 is a rough road signal code . The way the system knows that your engine is not missing its just on a rough road . Some engineer figured out that when the wheel goes down in a deep pot hole and back out of the other side the crankshaft slows kind of the same way it would have if it dropped a cylinder . so when the pcm recieves the rough road signal from abs it stops monitoring misfires till that signal goes away .
The 1884 is a data code related to the trans control module . the cou[ple times I have seen that fault it was related to water in the trans ecu . Under the drivers seat

Bump to share my P1590 story. Had the 3 amigos, borrowed a scanner from a great guy off of this site, and pulled a "front right wheel speed sensor low input". Turned out to be a faulty connector attached to the wheel well under the cruise controller/ SAI canister. Unplugged it, used a multimeter to take resistance readings on both sides of the plug. Reading would spike to the megohms when flexing the wire as it entered the molded plug. Made a quality splice, shrink tube, secure and wire loomed; good to go. Amigo free!

Nothing like a dark dash on a Disco.

The P1884 has a subcode that you can only read if your scanner is land rover aware:

P1884 (11) * CAN message:Engine friction invalid No apparent effect. On Off

P1884 (18)* CAN message: Throttle position invalid Substitute throttle angle of 50% adopted. No kickdown. Operates in economy modes only. On On

P1884 (19) CAN message: Engine temperature invalid Substitute engine temperature derived from other inputs. No apparent effect. On Off

P1884 (20) CAN message: Road speed invalid No apparent effect On Off

P1884 (33, 34) * CAN message: Engine torque invalid Substitute engine torque of derived from other inputs. May affect shift quality. On Off

P1884 (35) * CAN message: Engine speed invalid Maintains current gear in low range, limp home mode in high range. Shift pressure to maximum, harsh gear shifts/engagement. On On

P1884 (37) CAN message: Engine air intake temperature invalid No apparent effect. On Off

P1844 (38) Altitude shift control invalid No reduced torque compensation, possible reduction in performance/ driveability at
altitude or high ambient temperatures. On Off

The p1590 means that everything is talking just fine, but the engine computer cannot get rough road info from the SLABS computer, because the SLABS computer has an error stored.
