Cold Weather, knock, slow oil light

My oil light takes up to 10 seconds to go off. I use Rotella 15/40, just changed this past weekend, with the big Mann/Purolator L40316 filter.

20k miles ago the previous owner put in new heads, timing chain, camshaft, lifters, etc. I would assume new oil pump gears at the same time.

This morning it was 15 degrees. Truck started but noticed a slight knock in the motor and the oil light took quite awhile to go off. It is rarely 15 degrees here. Starting tomorrow it's back up above freezing.

One time occurrence? Go to a different oil through winter? (typical winter nights are around freezing, some just below, most just above).

Pull the damned thing apart and put in a new oil pump? Last summer the pan was dropped, cleaned, oil screen cleaned, new cork gasket, etc.

Should note: no oil light once warmed up. After the light goes off in the AM it stays off. Just ran almost 800 miles in a single day, no oil light the entire time.

I suspect you're using too thick an oil for those temps. The RAVE advises 15w40 down to zero. I would switch to 5w30 or 10w30 and see if that makes a difference the next time it's that cold.
